I have posted a photo at TE with the same title but a different image.

On the first Tuesday of November, the U.S. will hold a national midterm election. The biggest political issue for this election, for many voters, is the war in Iraq. It would be interesting to see the results after the polls closed on Tuesday.

Arlington National Cemetery, in Arlington, Virginia, is an American military cemetery established during the American Civil War on the grounds of Arlington House, formerly the estate of the family of Robert E. Lee's wife Mary Anna Custis Lee, a descendant of Martha Washington. The cemetery is situated directly across the Potomac River from Washington, D.C., near to the location of The Pentagon. It is also the gravesite of John F. and Jacqueline B. Kennedy. Their gravesite consists of Massachusetts granite quarried over 150 years ago and personally selected by immediate family.

Veterans from all the nation's wars are interred in the cemetery, from the American Revolution through the military actions in Afghanistan and Iraq. Pre-Civil War dead were reinterred after 1900.

I think war takes more than human lifes. And it seems that we`re never gonna learn.

Great pic.

my best regards for all of you in the US.

yes. and when will we ever learn? when no one is left to give red flowers anymore....

Good composition!Excellent perspective!I like the treetops leading the viewer's sight back to the tombstones.Thank's for sharing.

nice photo danilo!

Nice to have taken this photo on an overcast day, it adds to the mood of this presentation. "The cost of war" is also for the ones left, a very high cost, much to high. Thank you for sharing image and thoughts.

Hello Danilo,
Both this and the TE contribution are strong images!
For obvious reasons cemeteries and autumn is a heavy combination...
If I have to pick one I have a tiny preference for TE version, a matter of taste only and mainly based on composition!
Any idea why there is a red flower and only one?
Greetings,
Pablo -

The picture has been taken with crisp details. Nicely composed image, good colors and light. Point of view is interesting.

History of the human beings is full of bloodshed and wars. In contemporary world, there is a need to include PEACE as compulsory topic in schools. This picture in view is useful to see the results of war.

Thanks for sharing a thoughtful image.

Bonsoir.
C'est toujours très agréable à voir les cimetières américains car ils sont très bien entretenus.
De plus, l'alignement des stèles donnent un bel effet graphique.
Bravo !

Greetings,Danilo.

Very good notes along with good POV in your scene.
Every political leader should be forced to spend time at Arlington before making a decision to send troops to war.
The US elections gave the people a chance to tell the President that they did not approve of the Iraq war.
Your photo is a timely reminder of the costs of such follies.
Well done.TFS.
Kind regards,
Robert

I think this is a great title for this photo. They tie together. Nice sharpness and framing. Good colors too. TFS
Leanne

I like this one. The placing of the red flower breaks the pattern. The vast stones are geatly presented.

TFS.

Hello Danilo, this is wonderful photo with nice POV and composition. Wish there are no wars at all. TFS

A wonderful photo portraying the cost of war! A great message with this photo! Will Rogers many years ago stated " When Nations spend more on the peace effort than they do on war, then we may have World Peace " This may not be the exact quote but it is close. TFS :} Don
