[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I shot this during a concert here in town. The photo was later published in the liner notes of Phil's 'Dream Again' CD released last year. I pushed this film 2 stops.

Nice capture. Excellent mood and lighting. A little overexposed on the hand, but otherwise an excellent shot.

Hi Melissa, really beautiful capture here, the black and white and the high contrasts, as well as the way the musician is partially enveloped in dark shadow really creates a whole mood and atmosphere. Excellent point of view from the musician's angle, and I like how his head is tilted down a bit so that the light hitting his head balances with the bright tones of the guitar and hand below. Nice grainy quality and the vertical framing is effective in creating balance in the shot. I might recommend not cropping the head of the guitar at the right edge because that breaks the continuity of the shot and composition. I would also try cloning out the distracting light grey spots at the upper left. Otherwise really an excellent shot with so much style, class, and atmosphere. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Melissa. In my opinion, definitely the best of your posts - so far. Excellent B&W study. A bit 'soot and whitewash' as you've pushed the film, but that adds to the sense of drama. Excellent pose but, if anything, a tad too much black space at the borrom of the shot. Half as much would look better in my opinion. Otherwise, an excellent photo. Regards, Paul.
