The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception--read about it here, if you wish. The day I took this shot I was not a tourist but a daughter, remembering a much earlier trip with my father. That earlier time my dad had taken me to visit his mother, and we stopped here at the National Shrine to see the Christmas decorations, which made a nice backdrop as my dad told me about his catholic upbringing. But the day I took this shot it was Palm Sunday, and I had just left the hospital where my father had passed away.

I hated to lose the blue color in the dome, but I wanted to contribute to the sepia theme this week. I applied a gradient filter to the sky, which was completely blown out.

Great POV, Karen, and a sharp, clear result that works well with the sepia. An apt choice, by the way, with that sky exposure to battle. A place of poignant memories, well-presented.

Best,
Jim
