[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
As my first TrekLens posting, permit me to introduce Hemi, one of our two black cats. He is a two-year old polydactyl. Hemi has six toes on both of his front paws -- just like his brother, Fitzi. We obtained both kitties from a shelter in Westerly last year. Hemi is a very athletic cat, and needs to stretch out from time to time. I took this shot last year, as Hemi stretched against a wall downstairs.

The cat could be sharper and the image less grainy but I like the composition quite a bit. Nice use of the background and quick use of the occasion. Love the shape of the cat.

Hi John! I'm not a big fan of pet shots or of cats in general, sorry :-)

But as Roly mentioned, the shape of the cat is a stand-out here and the composition is pretty good too. I know it's an old shot and you probably know all this already, but I think you could have gone for a shallower DOF and faster shutterspeed to help the sharpness. But then again with animals you don't always have the luxury of fiddling with settings.

Anyway, interesting first post and a big welcome to TL!

I have very soft spot for black cats, most of them where our darling Titan has pinged me into the shape and place HE wants me to be.I think black cats are a bit like red flowers, not easy to get clear but still well worth taking the photos and sharing. Love the tail and I can imagine the flick of the end coming up. TFS and look forward to many more 'adventures of Hemi and Fitzi.

great pose! tfs Joke

Hi John
Hemi's black fur makes him stand out so strongly against the white walls. Good pose, and what a shape :)
With your camera I think you could have shot a sharper photo, but if you are happy with people telling you your faults, you should learn a lot on TL. I know I did.
Looking forward to seeing more photos
Janice

WELCOME TO TL! With a great shot John! I too have black cat, so it caught my eye! Nice BW conversion, love the silhouette feel here! Have fun with TL, don't take critiques personally, it's about the photo, not about you! Post, have fun and you will learn TONS here!

Hello John, lovely pose from the cat, great contrasts and a great result, thanks!

Mario

the pose is excellent, and so is the environment, white with pure clean lines, good aesthetic and great impact, for a photo of cat, it's very well done, not common, beautiful !

Nice work John! Welcome to TrekLens - what a terrific debut!

I love the capture of shape here. It is a little lacking sharpness, maybe the 1/60s shutter is to blame, a higher ISO might have helped?

Great work

Hi John!
Welcome on TL! :-)
Little lack of sharpness, as some people stated, but the "model" pose is so terrific that there's no importance...
Particularly like the perfect black and white in a color shot.

Hi John,
very well composed in a contrasting view. The excitement of seeing this graphical presentation. The tones of white wall is very well controlled. This is a wonderful apsect of your composition.
How exciting to capture this lovely stretching cat.

Hello John,

Incroyable posture, c'est la grande détente plus que drôle voire insolite.
Une zen attitude qui me plait.
Superbe cadrage avec ce fond blanc et la marche de l'exploit.
Bravo et jolie soirée à vous.
Amitiés. Yolande
