Our dog Jema who is a Sheppard/Lab mix and ten years old. Taken with the 50mm prime and the 580EXII bounced off of the ceiling.

Hi John,

And other fine picture of your family dog.
Nice use of the bounced flash. Good colours and exposure. Good sharp eye, which is important when photographing living things.
Now for a "suggestion note" I would have use an aperture a bit larger to include the snout of the dog. You could also could have achieved this by focusing a bit more infront of the eyes, like on the middle of the snout. Althought a bit tricky to evaluated, and I understand it still a short dept of field.
