No, this is not a jailhouse. But it does look like the interior of a prison, as first thought by my 11-year old nephew after viewing the photo.

This is the National Building Museum. It is located between 4th and 5th Streets in Wash. D.C. The building is the biggest brick building in the world. It was built using 7.5 million bricks, and if these bricks were connected linearly, it would stretch from Washington D.C. to Salt Lake City in Utah. The Museum's Corinthian columns are among the largest in the world measuring 75 ft. (23 m) tall and 8 ft. (2.4 m) in diameter.

Handheld. ISO was raised to 3200 to compensate for low light and to test how the cam would handle a high ISO setting. I expect to get a few comments regarding distortion. PP work included noise reduction and contrast/exposure adjustment. After posting and viewing this on a high-res monitor, I still see some noise. Oh well...

Hola Danilo,

Wow, what a superb HDR like shot with perfect details!

I love the colors of the floor here and the pillars standing tall in this marvelous architecture. A superb work, captured with perfect details, nice sharpness and from a breathtaking POV.

Very well done, my friend!

best regards,
Paras

Hi Danilo, beautiful building and a great point of view, there seem to be a little bit of symmetry and noise issue though. I've prepared a ws hope you don't mind, thanks

aK

Hi Danilo,
it does look like a jail in the thumbnail, you got me hahaha...
But in the big image, once we see the 4 columns and the fountain pond, things change :)
The high ISO is evident in the noise of the dark spots, but that´s not a problem, the shot has an overall great lighting and good composition thanks to the POV and the 18mm focal length.
The tilt could be arranged in pp easily.

Hi Danilo,
Excellent shot inside this building, the perspective does look a bit off and Tasmainia has done a good workshop but it still seems a little off - I am not criticising in any way as it looks as if you were central with the shot and the roof is straight with the border but the floor is skewed somehow - do you think it is a lens problem using the Sigma wideangle? The shot is excellent with good DoF and vibrant colours especially in the columns. Best wishes
Bri

Hello dear Danilo!

Nice shot of this beautiful architecture in vivid colors and details. Nice sharpness and contrasts with beautiful textures nicely defined. Good DOF with good focus till eyes goes.

TFS, indeed nice shot!

Have a good weekend,
Best Regards,
Ali

What an amazing building this is!! Fantastic perspective from up there - the colors in there are really lovely.
Quite grainy and also tilted .. but I see Tasmania has done a workshop and addressed those issues.
Nice one ... have a great weeekend Danilo

Hi Danilo,

This is an amazing piece of architecture and you've done a superb job given the lighting. The high POV and symmetrical view are wonderful. Yeah, there's a little noise, but who cares!

Have a nice weekend.

Hi, Danilo. great POV of this awesome structure. The ISO increase really helped since the lighting in this hall is poor.good perspective and colors. Cheers and TFS.

Boa tarde Danilo
A fantastic perspective of this powerful lines architecture. The title is very cool. I like architecture very much and you make very good perspectives of inner architecture- there is a little noise that not rouble the quality of it is important in this photo. The perspective and lines is easely correct in photoshop.
(Instead of fixed ratio , you choose perspective in adobe photoshop). There is fantastic lines here. Thanks for showing.
You have a wonderful eye.
Have a good WE dear Danilo

This is an amazing indoor capture of this 'jailhouse' museum!
A nice architectural structure with great symmetrical perspective!
Good use of available lighting and an ineresting POV.

Hi Danilo,

Excellent one point perspective composition.
Tack sharp details. Very good metering and delivery of colors.

Hi Danilo,

This look like some painting hanging on wall which you shot it :)very well controlled with this hand held shot while boosting its iso to 3200,I see that D300 doesn't have good low light photography as compare with its rival canon 50D,but D700 is much more better in high iso, this shot has a great DOF,with nice POV,beautiful framing with nice Architectural composition, good details but with noise which is not your flaw and I think if you could use lens with bigger apertures of like 1.2 to 2.8 would have given you more better result noise wise but the wide angle plays very good role here, well done.

TFS,
Have a nice w/e,
Mushtaq Hussain

Hi,only a bureaucratic mind would criticize this shot. The contrast in the colors is fantastic excellent perspective and sharpness.Greetings Otto.

Hi Danilo

Also looks a little like a Roman bathhouse, with those massive, marble columns. And yes, it also looks like a (very upmarket) prison. Good sharpness & high pov. Tfs!

Hi Danilo,

Hello,

Fantastique intérieur, quelle vue, une maîtrise parfaite des lumières, ces immenses colonnes avec le sol rouge, le petit personnages qui donnent l'échelle, une merveille.

Bravo et amitié

Nicou

Hi Danilo!
Excellent POV and fantastic perspective, wonderful interior,a fine colours and light, perfect sharpness.

Hello, Danilo -
I have come back to this photo several times. I think it is fantastic, although there is something going on with the perspective that bothers me; the top is perfectly aligned with the horizon while the bottom is not, although it appears your POV is from the precise center. Regardless, fantastic architectural features here with wonderful scale and interesting colors. It's a great post.

Hi Danilo
good capture of the big hall.
great repetitions on both sides.
marvelous marble columns, well composed.
the figures are perfect for scale.
greetings

Hi Danilo,
For such a high ISO setting. This is pretty good. What is the noise reduction technique you used here?

Hola Danilo

Buen trabajo

Hello my friend,

Excellent presented interior of the National Museum.
Great POV, sharpness and colors.
The DOF is fantastic.
Yes, there is noise, which mostly is noticed on the gray walls, but I like this photo.

Best regards,
Tatjana

The wide angle lens dives incredible depth of field, I have the Tokina 12-24 and am enjoying the challenges of WA.
This is nice and a wonderful building, wonderful colours.

Great photo inspite of the problems that others have commented on.

Hello Danilo,

Fantastic shot, colors, light!
Excellent perspective! Great work!
Congratulations and TFS

Excellent work Dan on handheld shooting of this superb interior. Noise are tolerable, just enough details and colors with great point of view.

Ciao Danilo,

The view is fabulous in all that you introduced me,
Now, the Corinthian columns are my treats, as
I find them wonderful, in your forms, your colors
and end up in the details.
The location is fabulous, it's like I was seeing
a part of Rome.
Good perspective through the choice of your angle.
These picture is very nice.
Congratulations my friend ...

Hello Danilo,

I was going to say, "That's one of the most beautiful prisons I've ever seen!" I can see in a way how you could see it as a prison with its stacks of floors and interesting perspective, but nahhhh! Not a prison! :O)

Nice work!
