Spelunker - One who likes to explore caves ;)

There was a lot of bird activity in my backyard this morning, so I pulled up a folding chair in hopes of getting a few shots. I hadn’t seen any chipmunks yet this year until this little guy started sprinting about. The rocks seen here form a retaining barrier for the drainage easement in my backyard. He spotted me sneaking up on him, and quickly took refuge down in the rocks soon after I shot this.

PP talk: Crop, contrast, saturation, vignette and USM.

Have a great weekend!

hi Werner this is one of your best images imho the details colours etc are brilliant i find this a excellent nature shot
tfs regards bryan

Hi Wener,
The added vignetting adds a nice touch to the photo and gives good focus on the chipmunk. The colors and contrast are kept nicely natural. I do think a little more USM won't hurt the photo and would bring out even more detail in the little critter.

Hi Werner,

What a sweet little cute chipmunk, his feet looks sharp and fascinating. The vignetting enhanced the image and truly dictates viewers to the little fella. Good to see this in a vertical format. Greetings from Key West, hopefully I can go to the Dry Tortuga National Park tomorrow. Regards

Bonjour Werdir,

Ha, ha, Werner, at least he posed for you, before he made his escape!! I like how you have secured such a good catchlight in his eyes, it makes him alert, almost cheeky! Nice fur details. Perhaps the colours could be lifted just a little.

Have a great w/e,
Bev :-)

You have amazing luck in capturing elusive creatures, I could never get close to them. Very nice DOF with sharp details on the subject. You did a wonderful job, tfs.

Hi Werner,
well you caught this little guy's inquisitive nature very well.I like the way you managed the light with your PP work. For me it's a little unusual to see him pop out from a rocky setting, but your note explains why, & it really makes for a vibrant composition & image.Great details, could almost see his whiskers moving.

Beautiful natural colors and nice details.
Regards Zoran
