A sunset scene from the Bahia Honda State Park in FL. It has been more than 20 years ago since I last visited the Florida Keys. Railway travel to Key West, the southernmost point in the U.S., was once possible but was stopped around the '80s. The abandoned rail tracks now serve as a favorite fishing hangout of locals. To the right of the frame is Overseas Highway (State Route 1). The rail tracks run parallel to State Route 1. The POV shown appears like the rail track and State Route 1 are connected.

Most people who do not take the half-hour flight from Miami to Key West come by car or bus on State Route 1, which stretches in a sweeping curve for more than 150 miles, over 40-some odd bridges, into the Gulf of Mexico. The trip is long, hot and dull. Today the Upper Keys are festooned with the usual highway tackiness - bait shacks, bbq joints, roadside stands hawking enormous cypress stump coffee tables and occasional billboards advertising such items as a golf course "where sharks and barracuda are a natural hazard." Crossing island after island , bridge after bridge, you feel as if you might just be headed for the end of the earth. Time seems unimportant, the rest of the world far away, the sun bleaches the color out of the landscape.

No pp work except for resizing.

Hi Danilo,

Another fine landscape from your trip. Using the clump of grass in the fg as an anchor is excellent, with good use of thirds in the land to water break. One day I will probably head down there, but I'll have to figure out why first.

Best,
Werner

Hello Danilo,

A most delightful shot.
The f/g grabs the interest with both hands, with the explosive grass tuft and the roughly textured rocks; then there is the chance to enjoy the contrasting smoothness of the water and the evening sky.
You have a fine composition of thirds, and I like how the abandonned railway tracks act as a divider.

Have a good day,
Bev :-)

Hi Danilo,

beautiful picture. I like this two roads meeting in the distance somewhere.

Yes! This is the only other place in the USA that feels like where I am! You walk outside and you start dripping from the humidity. It's like walking into a steam bath! This is beautiful Danilo! Excellent comp and sharpness! What a magnificent sky! Well done my friend!

Hi Danilo,
I like you choice for shooting this landscape, seascape. The large rocky mass with the clump of tall grasses, just fix ones eyes into the scene & keep them there. The highway & the old railroad bridge do look as though they merge in the horizon.I like the sunset colour you capture, nice to see all the details of both the Hwy' & the railbridge.I have never visited the Keys, but have been informed it's a great place to relax? Strong composition, with the foregrounds shape & the railbridge & Hwy lines all leading us into the scene.

Best Regards
Ron

Hi Danilo,
Very nicely composed. The FG grass really gives that photo that extra depth. The two bridges meet most wonderfully on the horizon and draw the eye perfectly into the photo. It is very odd to see that gap in the bridge but I guess once its use isn't there why should you care for it.
I am surprised to see this much lens distortion at 18mm.

Niek

Great, great, great, Danilo, each great is for a third. This FP with this grass is anthological.
Love it. TFS,
R.

Hi Danilo,
I think that Florida is very hot during the summer. Beautiful weather and beautiful sunsets. Nice perspective and good evening light.

Wow! this is beautiful Danilo. Just a really well constructed shot .. love the focus on the tuft of grass in the foreground, but the fantastic scene in the BG, with those amazing sky colors. So beautiful. Love the way you've positioned the rail bridges on the horizon line. Very clever .. very well done.
Hope all is well :)
