This photo taken on film camera dates back to early June 1996 , not sure where it was shot exactly though but it was on a drive in the vicinity of Anchorage . Alaska is a huge state and it doesn't take long before you actually drive onto wonderful roads into superb conutryside of mountains, lakes and wildlife which by the way can be spotted even in town ! Not surprisingly i was told by a resident of Anchorage later that day after observing with my own eyes in early morning a huge moose merrily browsing one town dweller's front yard grass and the few persons out there hardly gave the beast a second glance so used to see them around , this is pure Alaska just the way i liked it !
Seaplanes are very often seen moored or in flight and are useful to get around , lakes and rivers are everywhere and i could not think of a better way to access the more remote regions as one would expect the road network is rather limited . Fishing is another pleasant activity the state residents do ,commercially it is big money over there with the big fish but it can be relaxing to throw a line right off your private pier , catching a fish that will inevitably end up in the frying pan for supper and if you can get this done in fine scenery , well the better !
Shot this peaceful scene through some trees and over low bushes with my 70-210 mm zoom lens .Scanned print and post-processed in B&W , played around a bit with contrast and exposure in Photoscape , sharpened and framed .

My contribution to the theme today .
Thank you for looking.

Hello Carol

A superb addition to this weeks theme. A advert for sure to give us the possibilities of Alaska. Well done on the PP work.

Hi Carol,
I really love this image with such strong and natural tones.
erwin...

A lovely peaceful landscape of rural Alaska with an interesting note. I like the fact that it is b/w, it creates mood and tells the story of the image more. I also like the sharp foreground and blurred background. It is one of those scenes which you keep looking at and seeing another detail. A good addition to the theme.

Dear Carol,

I like the strong mood and charm you have caught in this daily life scene!
Good decision for going B/W tones to the picture and the contrast you have maintained against a well blurred BG is amazing. The young man doing fishing and inclusion of an aircraft do enhance the overall mood in the scene.
Well seen!

A wonderful contribution to Friday's theme!

Have a nice weekend.

Greetings,
Paras

Hello Carol, an interesting composition with just a part of the plane in view, and yet it is enough. We need to see the lake with the expanse of water, and if there just happens to be a boy fishing, then even better.
The OOF bg works well, if it had been sharp, it might have distracted our eyes from the fg details.
Also I like the b/w.
Tfs, regards Jean.

Carol,
I like the juxaposition of the various elements: the float plane, the young boy fishing, and the almost dreamlike lake and BG shore with trees.
I like your B&W conversion from a film scan.
A very pastoral scene that makes a unique and original contribution to the Theme.
Very Nicely Done

Hi Carol,
An original approach to the theme. Combining fishing with aviation seems to be far fetched, but you succeeded perfectly.
I like the B&W conversion and the POV. Nice blurred BG, obtaining a 3D effect.
Well done,

Francis Xavier

Hi Carol, the b&w really gives the feel of a time when things were simpler.Like the planter on the end of the pontoon.Fiona

Hi Carol!
Excellent contribution to the Friday theme. A nice daily life scene, well composed and presented. The simple white frame is perfect to show this W&B image. Excellent PP work. The blurred BG makes stand out the principal subjects (plane and fishman)very well.
congratulations.
Ciao and nice Sunday! Vanda

A friend lives about 30 miles north of Anchorage and she has been asking me to visit. They have a float plane and she promise to take to some remote areas of Alaska, I'm tempted. I like your combination of fishing pole and flying object better than mind. Good dof with nice contrast. Very well done, tfs.

Olá Carol
I like the composition, the good moody of this B/W. It has charn, singularity and character...it is you and you special mind " visiting" this world. You see beauty and give beauty to us. Even the frame I like...it is has a limit of the scene...we can imagive how much beautiful details is out of the photoo and you gave us a beautiful glance.
It has so much you.
Um abraço
teresa
