My contribution to the Friday Aviation theme – Not so stunning or creative as many of the other images, but hopefully worth of inclusion.

The EAA Air Adventure Museum provided this wonderful display of this North American P-51 Mustang; the Paul I. Named for and flown by Experimental Aircraft Association founder, Paul H. Poberezny, who flew every version of the Mustang from the experimental XP-51 to the final regular production “D” model.

I made this image from the lower level in the “Eagle Hanger,” which housed warbirds from the WWII era.

Interior lighting was fairly dim with a mix of Tungsten and Mercury Vapor types. The exposure required an ISO 1250, which also brought the noise level up. I actually used a monopod so I could not use a much slower of a shutter speed had I used a tripod. Also, I was using my slower "walk around lens" without IS.

I took the RAW image file and processed it in PS5 to color correct and sharpen the image. Then using NIK software, I applied Noise Reduction and processed in Viveza for the standard image adjustments.

Then in another layer using Single-Image HDR, I worked to achieve an illustration version of the image.

Oshkosh is precisely where my bro-in-law ( pilot for Air Canada )and a few friends all in their own private little planes are flying to this weekend , a huge air show takes place this coming week, he attended at least once or twice before this year sure he is going to revel in the displays of the museum here and certainly for the ambience around there , aviation connoisseurs are in town for a great show .. Good exposure on the aircrafts Larry , noiseless and deep rich color tones , even the grays are luminous , not that easy a shot indoors but you handled the lighting very well my friend ,pleasant results , tfs,
Best regards,

Hi Larry, love the metallic look you got with the pp work. Came out really nice considering the light you had to work with. Maybe one of the reasons I like the action stuff, no nasty lights to fight with. Fiona

Hi Larry,
An interesting HDR treatment to this museum indoor shot of this of this Mustang. Beautiful colors and accurate sharpness. Despite the ISO 1250 the presentation is quite neat. Nice reflections on the shiny floor.
Well done,

Francis Xavier

Great addition to theme friday, I so like the tones you present here, gives a real metalic type feel and effect. It makes the colours seem to stand out more, neat work. tfs

stv ;o))

A wonderful entry to Friday's theme, Larry!

I like the light and sharpness you have achieved in this indoor location.
The colors are original and contrasts within the image are well kept.
Good control on exposure too.

Have a nice weekend.

Kind regards,

That's a superb pp work makes aestethic metalic textures and colors.
Looks like a cartoon, love it.
Beautiful light and contrast management.
I like so much the Christmas's tree in the bg.
Very interesting and eye catching entry to the theme.

A Mustang, flying or on the ground, is always worth something! Love those airplanes, I think they are the best designed fighters. Good dof with sharp details and wonderful colors with good saturation. Very well done, tfs.

Hi Larry,
Seen one of these flying with a Catalina a couple of days ago, nice manouverable machine - good shot with a nice PoV, the background isnice and colourful (with a spitfire :) ) but not overly cluttered to draw your eye ar\way, it adds lots of interest. Great clarity, colour and detail - your PP work has paid off and you have an informative note too. Nice one. Best wishes

Hi Larry,
A busy image which you have presented well, multicoloured with numerous points of interest. The main subject seems to mould into the photo.

HI Larry..nice shot of this great plane. I got a ride in one about 10 years ago...my stomach didn't settle down for 24 hours.

Hallo Larry,
Sehr interessantes Flugzeug P-51 Mustang Abbildung. Der Standort fürs Foto - und die Schärfe und Farben - könnte gar nicht besser sein.
Viele grüße.
