[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
As a storm approached the Byron Bay lighthouse I tried to take advantage of the dramatic sky. The image is a liitle dark and I was tempted to lighten it but found myself returning to this version perhaps because it best reminds me of how I felt at the time.

Dramatic indeed and I for one am glad you didn't lighten the image. This reminds me very much of Turnberry, actually. Caledonia has posted a cracking shot of that particular lighthouse.

The point of view works nicely here with the fence leading us up to the lighthouse then the edge of the cliff breaking up the rest of the shot very well. The imposing grey cloud adds a lot of atmosphere. Nice shot.

Hi Terry..this is a beautiful shot...very nice tones and light...good job on the focus and sharpness...

Love the dramatic sky Terry.... it's almost like a B/W shot.
I really like the shot this dark, coz that really emphasises the dark and gloomy feel!
Lovely work indeed.

Greetzzz, Anneke

Hello Terry,

Instinct usually works - your decision to keep this version!
It is a very dramatic shot, produced by the tall, reassuring lighthouse, standing tall against the threatening sky. (Without that darkness, the threat, and therefore the drama, would have been lessened.)
The lighthouse is very well positioned in the frame with a fine lead from the diagonal pathway.
Just being pick, I know, but I think I would have cloned out the tiny bit of fence on the extreme left, to prevent it distracting from the path.

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Bom dia terry
Excepional mood comes from your photo.
Very well composed on 3 , but what I like more is the treatment in dark tonalities you gave to it. It has power and it is not so easy there are lots of lighthouses. You made this one unique.
Um abraço

Hi Terry,

Good choice to stick to the original. Very dramatic image. I particularly like the strong delineation between the good and bad weather which can be found again in the colouring of the sea. The lighthouse standing fearlessly with a "bring it on" attitude.
Good one!

HEllo Terry,

This is an xcellent photograph! Very very dramatic lighthouse compostion, especially under those skies! The dark clouds are great especially against the white light house! Nice POV and great sharpness.

I agree also with your choice to leave it as it is .. I think there is enough light from the bottom part of the sky, which seems to illuminate the lighthouse very well. The dark brooding clouds at the top really do set the atmosphere and make us sense the impending storm too. Great shot Murray.

So dramatic,....so beautiful.I like it.Good sharpness and very nice tones.
Congradulations,you made a great composition!!!

Its indeed a bit dark, but it fits the mood. Mysterious, threatening, a bit scary... The colours are great, they also match with the mood!
The little poeple shows us how big the lighthouse really is.
Well done, Terry!

Stunning work, absolute beauty of an exposure and composition- the mood is truly captured and I am glad you left it the way it is! Really transports one to this time and place and this is what makes a photo like this truly special- well done and TFS!

A very dramatic and strong image, nice theme and very appropriate light and clouds.
The dark black rocks under the lighthouse are beautiful.
The far light on the sky is the clue to the succes of the shot.
Compositionally perfect.

Hi Terry, I've been there. What an awesome vieew from up top of that cliff. But that stormy sky gives a great look to the scene. I like how you have taken the photo from this angle too
Well done
