Love on the crack of dawn

Took this picture with my good old D70s on January the first 2009 on Waihi beach in the Coromandel in New Zealand.

Saw these two youngsters enjoying the first sun rays of the new year. Enjoyed the view and took many shots of this first dawn of the new year. I was here together with my TL pal Peter.

PP work: shot in RAW, adjusted highlights, contrast and saturation (minor). Converted to JPEG, resized and sharpened.

Hi Hans

A magnificent sunrise, with the silhouetted couple embracing, in the bg, the icing on the cake. Superb sharpness & nice reflections in the water & wet sand. Tfs!

Hi Hans,

The golden skies along with the moody clouds create a nice, peaceful presentation. The young lovers capured in the golden reflections is a real bonus. It's good to see that some folks still take advantage of the beauty offered by mother nature. Have a nice Sunday and TFS.

Best regards,
Werner

Hello, Hans -
Such a breathtaking sunrise - amazing colors reflected so well on the wet sand. The lone figures in the center also create a perfect reflection. Very sharp throughout - wonderful mood. Well done.

Hi Hans,
Hi Hans,
The colors and intensity of the sunrises in New-Zeland are easily recognizable even with the thumbnail! Just, the name of the photographer has surprised me! :)
This is a great photo with an excellent composition and format. The vastness of this beach is really emphasized by the scale of this couple. The reflections on the sand are terrific. I hope to go there one day!
Bravo!Annie

Oh, my gosh, Hans....
what a sight that must have been to witness firsthand. There is nothing like early morning light and you have captured it beautifully. I love those fiery colors and they way they look like gold foil reflected on the water. It's just such a dramatic shot. That sky with the low clouds, that fabulous color, the waves. The couple in the distance add a very nice touch, too. That is gorgeous. Many thanks and warm regards,
Shelly

hi bro.
it took you a while to post this beauty.
what a view to see in the new year. the tones are rich and the reflection is very nicely captured.
Brian

amazing shot, wonderful colors and the people add such a sense of peace to the shot, and you were awake 1st thing in the morning on new years! thats impressive! you must not drink! haha
scott

Hee die Hans,
Prachtige gouden kleuren !
De atmosfeer komt erg goed over, mede door je toelichting uiteraard. Mooie wolken boven het tafereel. Goede compositie.
Joop!

Hi Hans,
a great view of Waihi Beach and the couple really make the shot, I was down there a few weeks ago but it didn't look like this
cheers
Jack

Hi Hans,

Lovely image, super sky and foreground reflections and the couple are in a perfect position.

Rich texture of the clouds with a beautiful, dramatic and interesting sky, and its reflection in the water. The couple is a successful point to get more attention. Amazing what a pleasing composition with a great technique can give us: joy to look at.

Hans I know we all see this in different ways, but for me its the reflected colors on the beach/water. Really like the golden hues. I likely would have given a slightly different crop coming half way down from the top, but this again because of what caught my eye.
Wonderful shot and tfs with us.

Hi Hans,
vibrant capture of the natural colours, painting with light indeed.I really like those warm golden reflections on the wet sand. I wonder if & when they kiss ,a bolt of lightning will come out of those dark clouds:)I like your choice of location of the lovers, they do set a beautiful mood, as well as giving scale to their surroundings.A job well done

Hi Hans,
Very nice scene. Personally I would have preferred a little more of the foreground included, but the sky here is the main feature and it looks amazing. Good to have the people on the beach too. Well seen.

TFS,
Scott.

What beautiful colours, especially all those different yellow colours in the sky, and the reflections in the wet sand.
Well composed with the colours and the dark clouds too.

Hello Hans
A wonderful morning to welcome the new year in, the golden tones look superb especially against the low flying clouds. The couple show depth an scale to the beach.
