This is a shot I took from Ngarunui Beach when I stayed in Raglan for two days a few weeks ago. Ngarunui is the main swimming beach in Raglan and is perfect if you're learning to surf. You can see a guy paragliding in the sky to the right.

If you’re keen on surfing you can hire boards and wetsuits individually by the hour (without making a booking) from the main entrance to the beach below the carpark. It's not too pricey either and there are usually people around so it's not too scary if you're just starting out.

It’s a place you can have 2 or 3 sessions in a day if the sea breeze does not come up in the afternoon. Best surfed in the morning, but can turn on all day if wind stays in the eastern quarter. The swell does not have to be big for it to work, unlike Manu & Whale Bays. So when the points are flat go here, it’s an easy option.

The direction of the waves almost make the horizon look crooked here, had to check it multiple times to make sure it was straight. Decided to use a single RAW file since the wind was quite strong which produced some alignment problems when merging the three shots together.

Hello Scott! Master Work. Wonderful parachute. Excellent coastline. Fantastic seascape. Perfect POV and capture. Ideal shot. Well done!

Nice and sharp - I like to see these HDRs from a single shot.

Nice sweeping composition, great sharpness - good to use the tripod. I always feel that makes people think more about composition and here the f16 gives great DOF..
Paraglider makes a nice human element in this wonderful view of nature.

Good morning, Scott!

Wonderful work with great sky and a person using parachute, gives a great idea of the scale in the picture. The colors are vibrant as always in most of your compositions.
I like the great mood created by these lovely cloud formation and the sharpness and POV are perfect, making this work a very eye-catching one.

Well done, my friend.

best regards,

What a view! It's so wide.... you've captured that very well!
The paraglider is an extra, but that how we can see how big it all really is!
Great sharpness!!

Well done, Scott!

splendid picture of the sea and the paraglider

Hello Scott,

My first reaction was ... big sky!
What a wonderful, seascape which seems to go on forever, eventually blending with clouds which appear like a vast Antarctic mountain range.
The large triangle of f/g vegetation gives interesting contrasts.
Then, the obligatory focal point takes one a little by surprise; a lone paraglider and almost in the stong point of the frame.

Have a lovely w/e,
Bev :-)

Salam Scott

Very beautiful shot with superb composition
The dark colors are amazing here with the sharp details
The man with parachute is well located

Hello Scott
Nice to see ur uploads :)

Very fine HDR with powerful treatment, loved the f/g and sky.
In my opinion, the placement of para glider is a bit centered top which (if the situation allowed) might be placed at the third's intersection :)

hi scott
great shot of this coastline, exellent pov and beautiful sky nice addition of the glider, you can see the wind blowing with the grasses in the foreground.

Hello Scott,a beautiful vista with lovely natural colours. It is very sharp, we can see every blade of grass.
In the U.K. we have lots of coastal paths, is it the same in N.Z?
Tfs, regards Jean.

Hello, Scott -
Fantastic POV to capture this dramatic curving coastline. The paraglider is a very nice touch. A hallmark of your photos is the incredible sharpness you seem to be able to achieve consistently. Wonderful warm tone - due to the filter? Great sense of broad space conveyed. Well done.

Wow Scott, another beauty! The colors in your shots are really the stand-out feature .. in this one too. The sky, the water, the grassy hill .. all great color rendering. The paraglider is a great addition in this one. Looks like a windy day!
Are you a surfer?

Hi Scott

Hi and Good Morning mate Scott,

An impressive scene shot of a peaceful coastal line from your beautiful country.
The clouds and blue sky create a great deept effect here.
Realy a relaxing and charmy atmoshere MF!
TFS and have a nice Sunday!

Hello Scott,
Our eyes are directed to the diagonal of the beach on the left side which continues as curve to the right. The paraglider blends with the clouds and is sharp. The greens appear to have been slightly desaturated to taste. A wonderful composition, the beach looks endless. Good work. Regards

Hi Scott,
Very well composed shot.
Lots of details and lovely
colours. The horizon looks
great, the clouds seperating
the green of the sea from
the blue of the sky.

Hi Scott,
As were your previous posts , this one is a true beauty!
I like much this kind of animated landscape where the environment is in total harmony with a such mix of peacefulness and drama in the scene!
The HDR treatment is done with natural colors, I especially like the great range of blue/turquoise colors of the sky and sea. Very beautiful image! Annie

Hi Scott,
Superb imapression of this landscape. I almost can "feel" the wind in thsi picture. The parasailer is a catching detail. Light, colours and contrast, it's all perfect. Great posting my dear Kiwi!

hi Scott,
that paraglider looks quite like a symbol or a metaphor of your eyes and soul...
a beautiful picture of the space view itself,
the sky with cloud and the sea with waves are live,
and the gentle curve of the shore is illusionary.
the wind from the sea makes me feel so cool, and something sweet.
your red heart cannot be hidden this blue green surface.
thank you for your excellent picture,

Hi Scott,Sharp, great DOF,great colors and variety of objects make it a perfect post in nut shell.at the same type nothing looks misplaced neither any impression of over crowding.TFS

Hi Scott, Good land scape. The muted colours of the sea and the sky are excellent. I'd like to see a crop of the paraglider as the clouds behind him are interesting indeed. It may take a telephoto lens such as a 70-300mm or a 100-400mm. Unsure if you have one but this sort of situation would be ideal. TFS, Murray.

Hi Scott,
another top shot, you really have this HDR technique nailed, I have been struggling recently to get them as natural as what you have here. The 'blacks' look quite strong in this one - maybe that's the secret
well done

Hi Scott!
wow! wonderful view...very nice composition with excellent DoF...nice colors and light...
best regards,

Oh I have been gone too long! This is unbelievable Scott! The details! How in the world do you do this? The details are just amazing. I see the F16 and I know that is the key, but I can't seem to pull the details like you can! The color is just wonderful here. You get an award for this one!

Bonjour Scott.
Une dimension hors du commun est dégagée par cette belle image qui montre un littoral de toute beauté.
La voile donne une comparaison de dimension et du relief,
Bonne journée.

Excellent HDR and composition.
Crisp and clear image, beautiful seacape.

Bonjour Scott,
