The climax to a Maori haka on the beach at Waitangi. This was taken on Waitangi Day, New Zealand's national day. Young warriors had paddled their waka(canoes) and performed haka as they disembarked.

Hello Tony,
Those young warriors look very warlike!
Very interesting picture about costoms of New Zealand and the Maori.Good action picture!
t.f.s.and regard,

Talk about timing!! You did a great job to get so up-close-and-personal on this one, with terrific placement of the leading warrior's eyes in the frame and a good capture of his strong stance.

The light really didn't do you any favours, the back-lighting and the overblown sky contrasts with the underlit warriors, and unfortunately draws attention to the tilted horizon also (either straighten it, or tilt it more for dramatic effect!)

if you took this in RAW, it might be possible to do a single-shot HDR to even out that dynamic range - or a conversion to b&w.
