Congratulations, it is not easy to take so sharp bubbles with beautiful reflections.
Classic composition with beautiful graphical effect
My imagination is conjuring up fantastic images of you rushing round the garden, camera in hand, stretching and bending to keep these floating bubbles in shot!!
Pity your wife wasn't using a camera!!
However, the result is worth all the trials and tribulations! This bubble is pinsharp (sorry a pin next to a bubble is courting disaster), with the most exquisite reflections of buildings and colours. It is perfectly positioned n the 'thirds' area of the frame, against an unobtrusive b/g.
Have you been busy with the cafe?

Nice very nice capture Rew
I had the idea of doing such experiment lately but didn't get the chance :)
U've executed it very nicely n particularly selecting the aperture! u might have tried continues shooting mode?
There is some grains in the b/g but ur ISO isn't so high...

Ooohhh, Rew, I love it, bubbles are always so wonderful, remembering us to our childhood - and also the colours and the reflections on their delicate bodies is romantic and we can dream while watching them.
You did a good job, good sharpness and nice light - not easy to catch them so good.
Thanks and have a nice day

You are SO lucky, Rew, to have a wife who likes to create bubbles in the garden! Long live those who cherish eternal youth!!!
TFS & kind regards,
Eh.... well, as I don't want to see my written efforts tranformed from a critique into a comment, I'll deliver you some complementary photographic thoughts my dear TrekLens friend ;o):
Not only, the bubble is sharp as it should be (if you say "85 mm lens", does this mean that it has only a fixed focal lenght of 85 mm?), but, to me, the structure of the nicely blurred background is the key factor to the success of this picture. It looks very dynamic, as if the background (especially the kind of "hole" left of the bubble) had generated the bubble that is now floating towards other horizons. Consequently, this photo seems to tell a story rather than being just the illustration of a perfectly mastered photographic technique.
TFS & kind regards,

Bom dia Rew,
Here we are already in the field of artistic creation in which the photograph has little to do with reality and no commitment to realism. It's just a platform.
Beautiful image with swirling green and a bubble clear and full of reflections, like diving into the dark hole in the existing shadow BG. Great use of the number of gold.

Hi, Rew -
This is really a neat image! Wonderfully composed with the bubble in the upper right and the wonderful bokeh given lots of space in the frame. The reflection in the bubble reminds me of an Escher drawing. The bubble and reflection are very sharp. Great idea, very well executed. Excellent!
Good to see you back Rew, I´ve just returned from my looong asian trip and started posting some photos too.
Being able to get that moving bubble on focus with a f/2.2 aperture seems impossible to me! You must´ve taken hundreds of shots with the fast continuous multi-shutter... how did you make it?
In terms of composition, well, you know it is textbook perfect rule of thirds. This image deserves to be published in a photography book to teach students.
Also, the bokeh is very appropriate because the palm leaf shapes are like spears waiting for the bubble, threatening it.
The brown bg area on the right of the bubble should be more green maybe, because slightly distracts the eye and is a disturbing colour for this image.
Reflexes on the bubble surface are cool.
I am looking for you on it but not sure... mmmh are you wearing a red shirt?
Oh wow .. now this is not something we see everyday! Great idea Rew! The bubble is sharp as can be, and I love the violet and green colors.. and the interesting inverted whacky reflection. Fantastic "pattern" in the background - looks like it must have been a tree of some kind (?). I was going to suggest maybe a little less negative space, but it does give the bubble a lot of space to float into.
Very busy, but happy I hope:) How's the cafe coming along?

Wow, this is really something different. The bubble and the reflections it captures are pin sharp and the linear patterns of the blurred green background compliment it nicely. You have it well-positioned in a thirds sweet spot, making the composition a strong one. Well done and TFS.

I like this idea from you both.
Creating bubbles, it's so magical.
I enjoy watching this bubble, we can see a world inside.
A beautiful composition with a very good pov.
Strong focus and perfect bg.
Rew, Have you colorful cocktails in your cafe?

A very well captured shot with such great world within this small bubble and that too "in flight", wonderful work, Rew!
The sharpness and POV are well done, its strong positioning into the frame make it even more inetresting and showy. The colors are natural and reflections are just superbly shown. Well done!
A unusual contribution from you but a high quality one as usual!

It is a fantastic graphic work shot. Just amazing, I think it is the most difficult subject to shoot "BUBBLES"which appear for a very limited time and the texture is mostly very soft and do not allow to maintain the camera timing but you have managed all the elements marvlously. Hats off to you SIR......

Hello Rew.This is a very powerful shot.Nothing really to criticize about it.The composition is excellent with the bubble falling down exactly at the cross of the 2 lines of the thirds in the upper right corner. The bg is nicely blurred with the use of your DOF.Wonderful sharp details on the bubble that becomes here a nice planet is a microcosm world. My only dream would have been to see some more vivid colors...maybe a next time in a different environment.Very well done.Bravo!Best regards,

Hello Rew, what an amazing shot.
A simple bubble, but we can see so much in your picture.
Lovely sharp reflections in the bubble, and the leaf shapes suggested in the bokeh.
The composition is spot on, well done.

This is one of the best shots I have seen in a long time. Perfect use of focus and positioning. The small in-focus world of the bubble makes a fine contrast with the out-of-focus leaves in the background. There is a lot to learn from this one.

A unique shot Rew , for its originality alone it is well worth a green smiley which i 'll be very happy to click on when i am done with this critique , besides i like the leafy-green BG that complements and enhances royally the shiny star of this exercise , one shot to be proud of and one that you captured on the dot even with a sort of inverted reflection in it! Great idea and brilliantly delivered mate,

Hi Rew. You can do amazing stuff with this 85mm prime. The focus here is first class with well defined details in the bubble. The silenced background and off center framing has excellent graphism in it. Thanks for sharing and have a nice day shooting. Regards - Jusni
