[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is Tigers Blood also known as Kiwi Thunder.

It is a Thunder Mustang which is a 3/4 scale replica of the P-51 Mustang which flew in WWII, this is the only type of its kind in New Zealand and is 1 of 12 flying in the world. Kiwi Thunder is owned and operated by a sydicate based at Ardmore Aerodrome and is headed by Simon Gault best known as a restraunteur and his appearances on Master Chef.

This was taken on Tuesday after Kiwi Thunders existing engine monitoring system (the VM1000) had been replaced with a new one from Electronics International (the MVP50). Malcolm Thompson came over from the USA to do the installation. The MVP50 is a engine analyzer and systems monitoring instrument that will allow the operators of Kiwi Thunder to log and download more data with greater accuracy. As part of the installation a new instrument panel was also fitted.

I was privildged to be invited to photograph the engine runs and be present for the test flights.

Simon Gault was the pilot.

Ralph, There is nothing I'd rather do than fly in a plane! You really captured this one nicely. Nice effect with the prop in motion and the interesting background. Attention is totally on the plane, yet the background has interest too showing the motion.

A plane is a plane is a plane!! But you have certainly caught the movement of it Ralph. That propellar looks great too.
IMHO - I would have cropped off more of the RH side so the plane doesn't look so centred.

Hi Ralph

Well captured shot of this plane, the panning shows the movement well.
I think the crop is fine in this case even if the plane is quite central.

Regards Derek

Hi Ralph:
Great capture & notes...
I wish to know if you had a tripod and that you were moving it with the direction of the plane or if you did it while on another vehicle, or hand, since you have the directional blur on the background!

Hi Ralph, glad to see u back, after a quite long time excellent upload, wonderful panning, nice sharp colors, the rubber smoke of the landing gears looks awsome. TFS and waiting to see more :)

Dinkey little thing isn't it...and nicely captured Ralph, it gives the feeling of movement with the blur of the BG and the propellar..very nice. :-)

Best wishes
