Discovery of Victoria for the botanical world was made by Bohemian botanist and naturalist TadeᚠHaenke in 1801. Sent to Bolivia by the Spanish government to investigate the flora there, Haenke is said to have first seen Victoria on the river Mamore', one of the tributaries of the Amazon.

Alcide d'Orbigny saw the plant in Corrientes in 1827 and sent specimens and drawings to France. He saw it again in Bolivia in 1833 and published accounts of it several years later. German botanist Robert Schomburgk found Victoria on the Berbice River in British Guiana in 1836 and sent specimens and figures home to Europe. It was from these, in 1837, that English botanist and horticulturist John Lindley established the genus Victoria and described the species regia in honor of Queen Victoria.

Very beautifull. And nice note. Congratulations!!

Beautiful colors. Great PoV. Underexposing this frame -1/2 stop would have eliminated the wash-out of the white flowers but your greens wouldn't probably be as alluring as they are now... I would have made the same call as well... Great job!

Hi Gabriel,
wonderful shot and the lights and colours are amazing...great POV, well done!

Curiosa planta.
Me gusta el paralelismo que has mostrado en la composición. Los colores son bellísimos y muy buen punto de vista.
Fantástico!
Saludos.

Yes I like the way you lined them up and the complementary contrast (dark red/light green).

Hi Gabriel,
Super POV you have here. The colours are lovely.
Sunil

What an excellent image, it is sooo impresive with these colors and the angle ou shot it.
Thanks for share.

I like the contrast of colors, but I think that the grass in the background gets in the way. I made a workshop to show what if would like like if you emphasized the abstraction of the stripes of colors.

Hi ...very interestingnote....
And the picture is just fantastic... I love it!!!
Congratulations, and TFS

Have a great day
