Check this beauty, a Spitfire F XVIII parked at the Duxford airfield. This wonderful aircraft is owned by Historic Flying Ltd, and flew in the fantastic Flying Legends Airshow 2005. These new types of Spitfires with the powerful Rolls Royce Griffon 65, 2050hp engine, were a great threat to all enemy aircraft in the late wardays.
I guess the Mustang is classified as THE WW2 fighter, but I dont think this one is far behind, in speed this one should be as fast as the P-51D.

these old planes look great :)
nice sharp photo and details

Hi Joar, thank you for posting all of these WW2 aircraft. Yes, this is a really beautiful fighter, only wish you were able to post the sound of a flypast as well.... Great composition! Love the 5 bladed props version. Shame the sky couldn't have been bluer, but then who can change the weather... at the click of a button. Great note as well. Thanks, regards Tim
