[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I'm fat. I'm too skinny. I'd be happy if I were taller, shorter, had curly hair, straight hair, a smaller nose, bigger muscles, longer legs.

Body image is becoming an issue more and more these days. The effect of our culture is creating so many problems. Media images from TV, movies, and advertising are affecting the self-esteem of many young girls. Girls may struggle with media images of teen girls and women who are unrealistically thin, making them think they are not small enough. This is why so many young girls have self esteem problems, or worse, eating disorders. It's important to realize that self-worth should not be determined by body size.

Also, the trendy clothing stores are not making life any easier for them either. I am about 5' tall, 114lbs. I recently went into a clothing store and grabbed a top in a size medium, only to realize that I couldn't even zip it up. I personally know that I am not a large girl. It is places like this that make the younger ones think that they need to meet the standards of a size small.

It is really sad, and an issue that is increasing daily. I just wanted to post this image to make people more aware of what is going on in our society.

The first thing to do is recognize that your body is your own, no matter what shape, size, or color it comes in. But remember that it is no one's business but your own what your body is like.

Ultimately, you have to Love Yourself.

I agree fully with his/her text! the people have to stop with that! to look more for the people's interior and for their qualities, not for the physical appearance! "to be happy it is necessary to learn to love itself own"... congratulations for the picture, very well accomplished. The illumination and the contrast were excellent. I adored. congratulations!

Just like your mother's post today, this is fantastic as well. The composition couldn't have been better. I think the front light was a good choice, as it helps empasize depth and everything is well lit. Great photo to compliment a great note.

Very warm. I love the effect of lights and shadows.
Superbe! ;-)

and your text is so right !

Your note is extremely pertinent. If you love yourself you're in great shape .
The lighting and the softness his incredible in this photograph . The diffuse glow worked really well .
Your framing his incredible as well. A simple photograph with an incredible effect. Jim

pamela, i can appreciate this because i know there are a lot of people out there that, for whatever reason, don't feel good about themselves. it took a long time but i've finally learned that i'm perfect just the way god made me.
now for the photo - i like the soft glow you created....and the heart frame - i love it. the shadow creates a certain mood i can't explain but i like it.
i think it's very well done!

Hi Pamela,
societies pressure is a pain !!! The answer to most problems is "Who cares and so what !". I like the post processing, diffuse glow and neat image are so nice. I guess since Zandra's photo my favourite filters :)
The symmetry is very good, the light/dark play also nice and the fingertips above the pants give a nice accentuation (Just glad you didn't put them into the pants - Al Bundy style ;-)
Yours, Jan

Pamela, you are just wonderfull. Thanks for sharing this, your thoughts. You are so right. Indeed one must love oneself. I think you do, and it is great, you should, keep doing it :) The preassure from socilty can be a pain.

Great picture and note. I agree that people today worry about looking like the model in the magazine and don'w realize that they could be hurting themselves.

Very nice presentation. Cute idea. Excellent lighting. Not too fond of the sudded blackness under the hands though. The high contrast and diffused glow work quite well.

Nice work here Pamela!

The note, it's exactly what I think here, how nice to read this. The text, title and the very, very nice picture of the body-details is a perfect combination, nice total, Pamela!

What a beautiful and real note to go along with this beautiful "message" in the form of a photo Pamela...I like the low angle of the lighting casting a shadow upwards conveying the message "things are looking up :)" Very nice

You are right...

Oh..what a magical work Pamela :) And then your note..i truly love your soul, you´re beautiful!

I didn't find this when you first posted it, but I am glad I found it now. Your note is so strong and a statement I can sign any day of the week. And the photo of the heart outside the body is so good. But of course, it is a beautiful body, which unfortunately relaunches the discussion. For instance, you couldn't have produced such a lovely photo using my body and my hands as a model. But you are right, it shouldn't matter, and the current pressure from our narcissitic body-conscious society is just too much.

Wonderful idea and expression of it...I think softness makes the photo more impressive.

I dont see anything wrong with that image. its beautiful. you definetly have the eye when it comes to photography. I love your style. gread note.

To tell you the truth, I love the message as much as the shot... the photo is meaningfull in itself, but with the note, it all comes together. I think you are absolutely right, body image takes way to much importance in our lives, mostly women... and the young ones too often get caught in all this obsession about weight...
Anyway, good picture, great idea...

If this is your original idea its grate...
Ive seen this on a comercial in Macedonia...

Very good and soft image that trully express the way we should love (or should I say appreciate) our bodies. The composition is also very good and the light is superb!
Very good job done, thanks for sharing it with us.
P.S. I've added it to the "Show you belly button" theme, hope you don't mind.

nice photo.. and the text is perfect!
well done!

It is indeed a fine photograph, Pamela. Beautiful lighting, soft skin-tones, the heart-shaped framing of the main focus, evocative use of light and shade, all bond together to give us a beautiful image. I wish I could give you more than 2 credits. One point however. Though it is necessary for other reasons, the mass of black at the bottom part of the distracts a bit.
Your note is also very well-written. I fully agree with you. In India we are now witnessing a mushrooming of the Beauty Business with so-called beauty pageants proliferating, thousands of beauty parlour coming up in lanes and by-lanes and remote indigent villages where half-trained and often ignorant persons give treatment with dubious material. Young girls and even homely matrons are getting into this 'cat race'.
I feel that a new dark age is looming ahead when women are going to more and more objetified.

WOW, I love it. It's perfect. Added to my fav

Lovely picture..
great work with light and shaddow...

What a photo!!!
It's amazing...
It's so simple, but so deep... I dunno, 4 me at least...
That's all, a very beautiful photo...
