Question to start with. Would consider a sephia photo a color or a B/W photo? Just to be sure that I am putting it in the correct medium.

Now about the photo. Taken on the second day of Christmas. Yes, we Dutch got two Christmas days. This is the old tollhouse of the shire of the landgrave of Rechteren Limpurg Almelo. Nowadays no longer in use, but still part of the current shire of the landgrave. Eventhough the power of the landgrave has changed, he still owns a lot of land and property within the city limits of Almelo.

For you that can read Dutch, please see the WS for an idea of inflation.

Sorry, the weather is changing for the better, so I am off for the rest of the day...will be back to look at your photos later.

Dat is een historisch huisje zo mooi
in de sepia..

hi Niek,
this has plenty of charm and character.
Nice composition.

Well done.

hi! niek nice shot.. great architecture shot.. nice work.. well done.. thanks for sharing (",)

Hoi Niek,
Prachtig plaatje van dit tolhuis. De sepia toon maakt het helmaal des 1837's. Het geelige frame maakt het helemaal af. Voor wat betreft de inflatie; dat valt nog al mee, of heffen ze nog steeds tol in Almelo? ;)
Prettige jaarwisseling!

Niek,
I guess I would consider a sepia image a color image because although it contains mainly two colors...primarily brown and white tonal ranges, black isn't one of them. That's just my take on it. I have been wrong before!
This image, other than the checkered gate arm, reminds me of the place where I once lived as a child. I like the road, how it leads the eye into the photograph. Glad to hear the weather has changed for the better, I expect to see some more great photo's in the coming days.

Hi Niek,
I love the sepia tone you choose, it really adds a nostalgic mood to the shot. Great POV and very nice sharp details. Excellent composition.

Hello Niek,
This is a fine composition with good lines!
The point of view gives a fine perspective, and the sepia works fine with me...
Fine atmosphere is created!

Excellent sepia tones! I really like the composition but would prefer the left side cropped slightly looser to see the full width of the road where the road bar is.
Good work, Niek!
All the best / Eric

Hoi Niek,

Groetjes, Nel

Nice presentation in monochrome along with sepia. Granular effect is giving an impression of composition on luster paper. An excellent point of view and an interesting subject. Well done.

Thanks for sharing this image.

Re your question, I think B&W is just a way of saying monochrome and sepia is essentially monochrome (indeed I did categorise a sepia tone photo as B&W on TL).

As for you photo is is quite interesting. The sepia tone makes it ambiguous as to whether this may have been taken by our grandparent's generation or only last month. This I think adds to the charm. Nice composition but I kind of think it would be nice to have seen what's behind the big tree.
