[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hi TL friends:
Last evening my friends [Vishal & Priyadershini]  invited me over for dinner. I have been helping Vishal about photography. In fact he is about to buy a digital SLR next week. So what you see here was our after-dinner fun play with camera.
General notes: We set the camera on a Tripod. The Speed-light flash was mounted on a strobeframe about 8 inches over camera with an attached bounce card at 30 degrees. ISO was set to 400 in order to get a faster shutter speed of 1/250 sec. and at F/5. We disabled auto focus on the lens [Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM Autofocus Lens]. This we did in order to have our focus predetermined by us and not by camera. The camera has an option for multiple or Continuous speed shots. This means that you hold the shutter release button down and the camera will take several shots in a quick succession. These were all the tricks in my hat.
Vishal dropped the walnut in to this colored water. Here is the first shot that we took.
David

Hi David! well timed and well done. always been wanting to have water shots such as these. TFS!

Hi David,
A excellent photo with great use of technique capturing the splash perfectly. Great work on the lighting and keeping the details in the right spot. It is a pity that you got a little bit of noise in the shaded area and that the top of the splash in cut by the frame.
TFS,
Niek

Good evening David,

Superb capture, I tried this a few weeks ago, my camera wont flash on multiple shots so I gave up. I did try in daylight but i dropped the ice cube and it seemed like two hours later before the shutter started clicking. I think I need to wait until I get new camera before I try again!.

I like the colours chozen here and the walnut was an excellent idea... (my ice kept melting)

TFS and my best wishes for your friend has his embarks on his photography hobby... I do hope you warned him of the addiction :-)

regards Helen

Hellop David,
The execution of the shot sounds far too complicated for me to grasp, especially at midnight, but the result of this complicated shot is just remarkable! I need say no more than that!
Kind regards,

Very creative and dinamic shot.Well presented.TFS.
Best regards.

Wow, first shot, you are so lucky.
I have tried many times to get a water drop shot, unsuccessfully!

I love the way you have captured the frozen moment in time.
I also like the contrasting colours.
Well done, Tfs Tracey

Few things I like about this one:
1. Good clear colours of the water,
2. Good sharpness of the spalhing water around,
3. Good framing that goes well with the clean and almost distortion free background,
4. And the thin frame that matches the water colour.

Well done David.
Splendid.
Tom

Excellent action you did on this. Good job.
Glad its not a glass of whisky, that would have been spoiling a good drink. lol

Hello David,
I would have preferred to see the whole glass, but that doesn't diminish my appreciation of this difficult to shoot. Wonderful splash, colors are true, and with good exposure. Best wishes, Danilo
