Hello My long lost freinds,

Long time no see my freinds, I hope you all had a great christmas and are now preparing for a top new year. Sorry I have not posted for so long but I have been busy being a farther and working lots. I will try to catch up on critiques next mounth.

Took this yesterday on the beach in Whitby, I like the loneliness of it and the Abbey in the background covered in sea spray.

Anyway got to go as I am hosting a New years Party and people will be here soon!

Have a great one

Tom

Great job
Un saludo

Hi Tom,
Nice shot of a very brave person LOL, I like the misty Abbey on the hill.
Happy New Year to you and yours.
Regards Andy

This guy obviously has 'issues' if he fancies his chances against that lot at this time of year. Nevertheless, I like your photo.

The figure stands out very well against the pounding surf and the 'hint' of the cliffs and ruined abbey can only be Whitby.

Excellent use of the light and compositionally very strong with the main fugure nestling nicely on a 'third' intersection - right under the abbey.

Best wishes for 2008 for you and your family. Paul.

Hi Tom
Very evocative photo. It seems as if you had the camera quite close the ground, which gives it a really good perspective. The foggy ruins in the background are great. Strangely enough, his chances of getting a surf in wintry, cold Yorkshire might actually have been better than if he had been here in Australia. Every beach in Sydney is closed right now - at the peak of the summer holiday season no less - thanks to a cyclone off Queensland that has made the waves too dangerous.
So score one for Whitby!
cheers
Stephen

Great stuff. I saw you take this and spent a while trying to nick the shot off you, but couldn't do it anywhere near as well as this! Very atmospheric shot and brilliantly composed.
Cheers, John.

Fabulous shot Tom,
Great atmosphere and mood.
An elegantly handled image. Well done.

Hiya Tom

Nice to see you back my friend

Good capture here, that surfer really looks to be trying to decide if its good or bad lol... maybe hes got a huge hangover from Christmas and is thinking "Well it seemed like a good idea at the time"

Nice framing and very moody image, i like it

TFS and all the best to you and your family in 2008

kind regards Helen

Hi Tom, I also saw you take this and had a go myself, however, the fact that I had left my tele lens in the car meant that I could not get a decent shot. Excellent composition and exposure, love the way the abbey looms out of the spray! Memories of a good day out. Cheers, Dad

Hello Tom, good to have you back, very good shot of that surfer in front of the old Abbey. We can almost hear the sound of the sea ! Thanks !

Hi Tom, This is very good to see.. Its the first surf photo i've seen with a castle/Abbey in the background. A special setting indeed. The cropping has placed the surfer in the right spot. Good work. TFS. Murray.

He almost seems to be deciding whether to venture out of not Tom. Excellent POV, lovely tones and I love the mistiness of the image. TFS,
David

Hi Tom,

It look lonely all right, but I like the mood here, it seem like the guy not only lonely, but also standing there going down into his memory lane? (hahaha, maybe he just thinking when is the right wave coming...) what I like the most is the background with the "castle" that is nearly invisible... well done,

Cheers,
Sweety

great contrast with the surfer and ruin in the background, good atmosphere with the fog and the lone surfer and sharp where needed,

good composition tops of a top photo.

perhaps a closer crop would of been nice, but perhaps not practical for that particular situation.

Beauty Light and Compo Tom.. Bravo..
