Hi
There is a funny story behind this actually. We live at the border of a 10km² forest. Yesterday I spotted this young Tawny Owl (just left the nest) in our garden! He just sat there, sound asleep. He didn’t move even as I got closer and closer. In the end I got to a distance of around 5 meters. But I soon realised as I wanted to take the shot, that my canon (without any zoomlenses…) was not the best choice to shoot such photos. So I borrowed my father’s telescope (he’s a bird watcher) and shot this photo through the lense of the telescope. It wasn’t easy to alligne the lenses of both telescope and camera and to get close enough (1 millimeter) to the telescope’s lense without touching it!! The tiniest movement you make, causes the image to go out of focus or causes a wrong alinement of the lenses (clipping). After 2 hours, I finally took a shot I was pleased with. I therefore categorised the photo under decisive moment too ;-). Thanks for having a look.

Hey Joris!
you seem to be having a lot of patience!!! 2 hours! wow!
But it worked beautifully, cute fluffy baby owl, you have managed to get a nice sharp shot at it!!! Well done! ;)

Joris,

ik hou echt van dit jong uiltje. Scherp en goed belicht. Misschien had je de achtergrond wat gelijkmatiger en minder opvallend kunnen maken door een stap op zij te gaan en de boom te vermijden.

Groetjes,
Geert

Joris you took a beautiful shot here with the help of the telescope. I tried to do a shot one time with binoculars with out much success.
He is a beautiful owl.Well done. All my best.
Cecile
