this is for all our friends in Texas as the hurricane draws ever nearer.
With the dark of the storm approaching, I have faith that the yellow rose of Texas will still shine through.

Wishing you all the best today and through the coming days

TECH: burned parts of the BG to set a stronger contrast of the light rose against a dark BG (symbolizing the storm)

Thanks for looking and for your critiques, workshops and suggestions

Ahhhhh, this is so nice Silke....and I so appreciate the good thoughts! Yellow roses are my favorite of all and this is so kind of you! LOVE the softtones in this, shot very well in the sunlight, and I just LOVE the bulb behind it!
Really cool!

I like the framing approach here Silke.
Wonderful composition, with the closed bud in the background.
Excellent dark background to provide contrast.

Perfect sentiment Silke, we are all with you in that regard. Beautiful imagery with the open rose and the one waiting to show its power/resilience.

Dan

hi silke, nice post, such a nice soft feel, good vertical composition,
tfs,
scott

Hi Silke, fantastic composition with wonderful rose, splendid sharpness, very well done, ciao Silvio

Hello Silke,

The light on this flower is lovely, creating highlights, shadows and tones to give a real 3D effect. The bluured b/g bud is a good balance and adds depth.

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

A beautiful thought Silke!
I sure hope that the storm will not take any lives and that it will not cause too much damage! I sure don't wanna be there right now.

Beautiful picture with lovely soft tones. Good compo with the bud in the background.

Cheers,
Anneke

hi silke.
a beautiful pic, a beautiful flower, a beautiful sentiment.

i found these lyrics by cindy walker and would like to send them to our friends in Texas.(hope you don't mind?)

'The hill country, the hill country of Texas.
The hill country, the country that I love.
Where wild wings fly above the peaceful valleys,
and the Pedernales
flows lazily beneath the Texas skies.

The hill country, the hill country of Texas.
It knew my folks, my family, and my friends.
The boy who rode his pony in the sunlight,
the man who prayed at midnight.
And gave him strength to carry on again.

And when
the night falls.
And when
my god calls.

Where wild wings fly above the peaceful valleys,
by the Pedernales.
Please let me sleep beneath the Texas sky.

And when
the night falls.
And when
my god calls.

Where wild wings fly above the peaceful valleys,
by the Pedernales.
Please let me sleep beneath the Texas sky.'

my thoughts are with you.
Trampas.

It looks a little aged, but still hanging on strong and tightly in the midst of the darkness.
And the future shows new life as in the new bud in the BG.
Nice thought Silke - well captured
Janice

Interesting scary news here about Hurricane Ike:

ciao Silke..
a beautiful dedication.. wodnerful marco indeed! light is perfect here! thanks
ciao Marco

that´s a very pretty rose, excellently captured in a wonderful tender light - a perfect dedication to the people in texas and
the other regions that have been hit by "ike". just read the news that galveston is flooded with about 8 feet of water and
now the winds are coming...it´s a really horrible situation. thanks & best wishes, thor.

Hi Silke

A sweet thought for Linda. You must be the good witch of the east. No idea who the bad witch of the west is, but I sense a connection with 'Ike'. Perfect dof & sharpness with a nice diffused light in the shadow areas. Tfs!

This time I think there is no need to analyse the picture Silke, just enjoy the bright light on the flower and the messages it sends.

We will be thinking of you all, don't take risks for a good picture.

Thanks Silke

Els
