[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a self portrait and a message to remind myself to live strong. I know the top of the hands are blown out slightly, but I liked it as it seemed like light shining down on the hands. The yellow band is the Lance Armstrong Live Strong bracelet which is sold to raise money for cancer research. This picture is my interpretation of what the bracelet means to me. To survive and never to forget. To live strong each day; before, during and after. I plan to make it into a poster for myself. The Lance Armstrong site is www.laf.org

striking and awsome

great !

PS : and i agree with Gand :-)

i like it very much , great composition, for me this light is ok, nice framing,i like the idea so live strong!

Very good composition Vera. The idea to have the bracelet in color is excellent. I like the way you framed the photo. Very well done. Best.

Hi Vera, good job delivering a message with your picture, I like how you placed your hands on the right leaving the blank space, it enhances your message, nice is ok for me. TFS Iris

Strong and wonderful picture, Vera, I like it a lot! It is very well composed, using only the right part of the canvas and using all the space there from downright to upleft. The B&W is fantastic, or well - I think I should say B&W&Y :-). The border is very good, it's there to improve the feeling of the picture but not taking too much attention.

And then that was only about technical aspects...! It's a wonderful message you bring here. Living strong is difficult sometimes, but it's so important... Thanks for sharing this thought with us!

my highest respect for idea and form

I love the clenched hands with the light on them, but what attracts me most is the rubber band around the wrist. This whole scene has a very strong message, and I like the emotion you have successfully achieved. I like the composition where the arm comes out of the bottom corner leaving enough negative space on the left. Nice work, as usual.

this is original and great,,,congrats

In fact.. you will turn visalisation into physical with a poster. But why not!
It's a good idea, the image is strong by itself!

Awesome! Well done!

Hello Vera, this is a great and powerful image, the composition is great with the diagonal position of the hands, wonderful crisp clear detail, and desaturation of all except the bracelet, makes this an excellent image for a poster.

Well done, good work!

i like your idea very much. it's simple, pure but STRONG photo. well done. regards, Jarek

unfortunately, the rubber bracelets have been cheapened by their sale in convenience store across Canada, and by the fact that celebrities have created them into fashions.

I bought mine off the website, when it first came out, but soon after, I noticed them in convenience stores. Now, people who do not even know what they stand for, wear them.

its important to support the cause, but unfortunately in this case, it has been cheapened just like the idea of Live Aid, which is used now, not as a tool to spread awareness about the problems of famine, but to show to the world, that rockstars "care".

I don't deny that Lance Armstrong is genuine about his cause, he has suffered from cancer, and I truly admire him, as an athlete, and a human being.

not all celebrities, use these different causes to popularize themselves, but I think, there are those who do. because of this, they are defeating the purpose of the cause. unfortunately because they wear these bracelets, so many others who are fashion-savvy also pick up on it, without understanding the meaning. Which in the end, defeats the purpose.

good shot, otherwise

Strong! Great contrast, wonderfull use of light. It all together realy breathes strenght out!
(sorry for my bad translation, but I hope you know what i try to say!
