A part of Barafu Camp looking out over the clouds, on Mount Kilimanjaro. Barafu is the high camp we reached prior to summit night. Barafu is at 15,300 Ft. To reach the summit it is about 4 miles and gains 4,000 ft. elevation.

We left at 11:30 that night and hiked through the night. I reached the summit at 7:15am, after about 7 1/2 hours. It only took 1 1/2 hours to get back down and I reached camp again at 9am.

What an awe inspiring view David!
What a feeling it must have been to be there.
Hiking through the night to get here for the morning light sounds amazing.
I simply love the way the clouds rise above the horizon line here.
Such a unique and compelling view.
Excellent work!

hello david!
excellent view with wonderful clouds, i like this composition.

Very nice composition with a great landscape. Fantastic clouds and sweet colour of the sky.

Hi David

This shot is wonderful! The dramatic clouds show us just how this mountain is, the image actually reminds me of an outdoor magazina, like an advertisment for tents or something, and this photo is certainlty worthy of that kind of thing. excellent work!

it must be a great experience to be here,
good POV to show the camp and the nice tones and clouds behind,

Hello David
One word comes to my mind "breathtaking"
The colors and contrasting elements are amazing... the light is perfect... It would be cool to see more shots from this day.
Funny in your notes 7 1/2 hours up 1 1/2 hours down :)

Hi David,
Amazing shot to say the least! I can only imagine the feeling to be able to go to a place like that. With my bad knees as a result of playing years of racquet sports, I know that I will never get to this place. So thanks for taking me there.

Certainly top of the bill of yout African serie, and totally not the kind of picture you would expect from there david.

Hi David,
Talk about a spectacular view when you wake up. I think nothing can beat this view. It must have been an awesome trip up the mountain, but I am sure that this spot was as beautiful.
I love how your are positioned above the clouds and cannot see the ground. The colors in this photo are so beautiful. The warm light of the setting sun against the cool clouds is great. I am going to add this one to my fav's so I can look at it more often.

hello David,
now I know where the expression "on top of the world " comes from. Fantastic POV. I love the clouds and the colours of the sky.Thisis certainly a special shot.

Hi David....Oufffff....!!!!
The experience of a life......
The life is surely not the same when you come back from there......
All my respect......

Beautiful shot, David. You managed to get good imagery with a high contrast situation. The few people there give it some perspective but the tents I find a bit distracting. TFS
