[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
It took a while, lots of wasted frames, lots of EMPTY frames, but I finally got one.
I know it's not pin sharp, but I was so thrilled to get this I'm posting it anyway.
Boy, do I have renewed respect for bird photographers.
This was the result of focusing on the bird while on a branch, holding the focus in and waiting.
Lucky I didn't have to wait long...about one second.

I think you've done a pretty good job, Peter. As you said, it's not pin sharp but we can still see enough detail and I'm sure most of us here would be delighted to have taken this shot.
Your note also shows that you have the patience and dedication that many of us - myself included - often lack. I think you deserve full praise for this one!

From my own experience trying to photograph birds - yep. Not easy.

A slightly smaller aperture may have addressed some of the sharpness issue but created more wing-blur due to a slower shutter speed, so I can appreciate the pay-off!

Nicely achieved!

Personally I think you have done very well.

I've been loking at it using photoshop CS and a quick sharpen very much improves the image in my opinion.

Congrats Peter for finally getting this lovely shot. Well, haven't tried my hands on birds but going through your note, I guess it's a job of real patience.
Yes, it does have blurryness around wings but then also your effort is worth a praise dear friend!

Have A Wonderful Week Ahead!
Cheers,
Shubhi:)

Hi Peter,
These type of shot are very difficult to come by. It's a great action shot despite the lack of sharpness. The timing was excellent. Nice work.

Kevin

Well done Pete,
gannets are easy compared to these little fellows

Hi Peter

Great shot. I think you have done a super job here. Love the OOF BG too. Really enhances the shot. Congrats.

Hi Pete, not too bad for your first, but you will do better - otherwise you'll have to give me your lens!! (I posted a pic on TN tonight that I took with your lens, and I know mine could be a lot better - I need more practice with it)

Did you try using the Sport mode on your camera? That might help with your first shots. Just keep practising and don't give up.

Great job of taking this shot as it's not easy. the target is moving and hardly you find right moment for the composition.
Best regards
