The blue emerald lakes

Here an other view from the Tongariro area from above. Between the two volcanoes Mount Ruapehu and Mount Ngaruahoe there are some lakes like here the blue emerald lakes named after their colours. The blue lake is in the foreground and one of the emerald lakes in the background. At the horizon you can observe Mount Ruapehu, one of the active volcanoes I posted yesterday.

Again an awesome view from New Zealand.

PP work: Small crop, adjustment of contrast and saturation. Resized and sharpened.

hello Hans

I thought you were lost in NZ?

This is quite a sight! Very impressive perspective view of the volcano and showing the lakes. How did you get this POV? Flying over?

The puff of clouds is really at the right place, the right time. Such a nice blue tone.

tfs, bill

Spectacular shot. The three main features and the cloud are all beautifully detailed. I wonder about a portrait crop - I played around with this and think it produces a worthwhile alternative. (I'm not bold enough to post a WS and you don't need one I'm sure). While fiddling with this I gave it a very tiny increase in contrast and liked the result.

Wow, that's a stunning view Hans. Looks like the moon or something:) Unbelievable landscape. Great shot.

In een woord: ongelooflijk mooi!
Wat een prachtig landschap, geweldig weer, dat blauw van het water en de lucht in combinatie met de andere natuurlijk kleuren.

HI Hans
This would qualify for the bird's eye view theme, but I am sure you have more flying time than many birds and will produce one when the time comes.
Super view, and well done.
Dot

Hi Hans
I have never seen the 2 lakes together like this - what a super summer view. How blue the waters are. And good to see the snow on Ruapehu too.

I'm looking forward to seeing what photos you post next - and where they come from...

Hans,
Whoa! good Earth on steroids? I think the 18mm was a perfect choice to avoid bending this horizon but wide enough to give us a feel of the huge space. I envy you and I'm happy that you got to witness this in person. Them Kiwi's are awful lucky! Super photo!
