Please see WS for the original photo( a scanned print) taken along the coast of the Atlantic , north of Essaouira , Morocco in late spring 1998 where waterbirds are found in large numbers and where beaches are great . Here in this HPP version i have made an attempt to make more dramatic this scene of gulls taking off as we approach them slowly ( too close ....lol ) walking toward them on the beach . At first the idea was to get as near them as possible but obviously at some point it became difficult , they would take off only to land a little farther from us but always facing us just as if to keep an eye on us ! Quite smart ,we were kept at a reasonable distance ! Anyway the idea for the Theme today is to HPP a photo thus i wish to contribute to it in presenting this one whose PP(.. not that heavy ,really... ) goes like this : Naturally from the color original pic i started with sharpening , then desaturated it to B&W , added a black fog effect next a grained paper texture and last upped contrast 25 % , that 's it ! Done in Photo Filtre , yep no Photoshop yet !

a realy good artistic representation a work of art i would say.tfs

Nice PP work Carol. It really does look like it's printed on grainy cardstock paper. Almost has a three-dimentional feel to it. Great shot.

Hello Carol,

WOW!! Excellent POV. Great case of being in the right place at the right time! great compostition and I like the b&w.

HI Carol
Great pp gicing this shot great dimension and atmosphere.
This reminds me of the movie made several years ago with the birds attacking everywhere.
Great shot.

Hi Carol!
Fantastic old B&W photo, very good composition, super POV. Very impressive with the lot of birds.
Thanks for sharing!

Original and strong compostion
Very special
see you

Active scene. Well captured. BR Joerg

Bonjour Carol.

Busy, busy scene with all those birds taking off.
Good one for the theme Carol. Your PP work makes the birds look quite frightening as if they are going to charge at oyu.
Well done

Must admit that I like this one better then the WS !
Very strange but beautiful effect.
So you " played " well Carol :-)
Maybe ( not a but ) I would try a smaller grain.
Just an idea

See you
