|On my photo walk at Arlington National Cemetery with Danilo Martinez last Saturday we approached the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. This woman was sitting there at the entrance with her head bowed, very thoughtful.|

WOW! What an amazingly emotional shot Michael! I love how you did this! With the flag in the archway it speaks volumns. She may have been a war vet, or the wife of one! Beautiful work!
Excellent point of view, deep of focus and colors.

I really think this is special...
Most may think to get the flag under the arch.. but the the lady in her wheelchair and what this place symbolized.... really nice...
I think you really lucked out with the sky as well.. it adds to the mood of the shot! IMO a bright blue sky would not feel as strong...
I do love the look for the little bit of chang leaves on the stone...

Regardless of the good or bad technical aspects of a photo, one that evokes strong emotions such as this makes it an exceptional shot. The upward POV is excellent and capturing both the woman and flag really gives one pause.
The first word I can think of when viewing this photo, is "dignity". Though this woman sits in a wheelchair and evokes a certain fragility, the way you picture her gives her a strong aura. I think the reason for that is her placement in your composition, as if she were 100% part of this monumental setting, hence becoming monumental herself.
I also like the respectful stillness this image evokes.
My only (small) remark would be the two persons visible at the right in the middle. They slightly dectract our attention, due to the not-fitting colours of their clothes. Waiting for them to go could have been risky, as you might have lost the meditative "pose" of your "model". Cloning them out, maybe? Or trying a black & white version, but then you would loose the delicate colours you were able to capture and that are in harmony with the general mood of your picture.
Anyway, powerful work.
TFS & kind regards,
