[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
These are Hawaiian Ti plants. They come in two colors - red or green - and they grow all over the Hawaiian islands. Hawaiians make use of their thick, leathery leaves to wrap food for steaming, and Hawaiian women use the leaves to make skirts. If you cut any length of the stalk and soak it in water, it will sprout and a new plant will grow. They are very hardy, and , in fact, are difficult to get rid of when you get tired of them! Tourist stores in Hawaii sell segments of them, and that's where I bought the little stems that formed these. I planted these about 12 years ago, and now they are over eight feet tall.

I shot this in my backyard after Saturday's early morning rain looking up towards the sky with my Canon 10d 6MP DSLR and my Tamron 10-24 zoom lens with my new 77mm circular polarizer. Not much was done on the computer - just cropped, resized, and increased sharpness and saturation on iPhoto.

Lovely Gilbert ... love the rich vibrant colors of this shot .. the smattering of blue sky showing through. Very nice perspective.
I used to sell these in a garden center where I worked, but of course they can only be grown as houseplants up here!! I'm envious of all the plants you can grow.

Hi Gilbert,

I like the low POV in this, it emphasizes the size of the pants. Very nice color contrasts, the CP filter did a good job with the sky.

I like the deep saturation of the green and blue colors, the plants look like they are closing in on you, so you had better trim them before they take over your backyard. And your neighbor's backyards!
