This is an early morning shot of the Coronado Bay Bridge in San Diego. It was a clear morning, and I planned to get some sunrise shots. Unfortunately, I didn't quite make it i time for the sunrise, but I still got a few shots. The US Navy Amphibious Warfare Base can be seen in the background. Before I taught high school, I worked as a civilian instructor on the various bases in San Diego. My favorite teaching assignment was on that base. I taught petty officers most of the Warriner's English Grammar and Composition book in two weeks. The purpose was to teach them to write more-understandable evaluations of their crew.

I shot this with my Canon EOS 10d 6MP DSLR and a Canon ef 75-300 zoom lens. On iPhoto, I increased sharpness and saturation, altered hue, and cropped and resized it for TL. Have a great weekend, everybody!

Hi Gilbert

You might want to edit 'Arkansas' to 'California'? I've done the same myself sometimes, as the location is not 'locked' in. Fantastic warm light, with good sharpness & effective tight framing on the bridge. The car provides scale. Tfs!

Hi Gilbert,

I like the view and sepia treatment. The bridge supports provide good contrast to the sparkling water in the background. A nice, moody shot.

Have a nice Sunday.

Good morning Gilbert!

Nice silhouette of the bridge and that subdued orangish hue of the sky is great.

Interesting note about teaching at the Amphib base - I took a few classes there in my years in SD - mostly "conflict resolution" and "influencing others" types of courses, though. I always wished more of us had been taught how to write better evals, but I found a book that got me through the 14 or so years of writing them. It had bullet statements you could alter and interchange depending upon performance levels, an incredibly handy book. I gave it to a fellow chief when I retired. Sometimes I wish I had it now for performance reviews I have to write at work - but I know it was just a crutch.

I'll bet you witnessed quite a few light bulbs go off during that assignment, though!

Anyway, I like the symmetry and clarity here, too!

Have a nice Sunday,

dear Gilbert,
impressive silhouette image,
dark arches in orange view is beautiful,
and distant pale trees and shining reflections on the water make illusionary view,
still and cheerful air is nice,
thank you for your wonderful shot,

I like the way you composed the shot with the bridge base placed on the foreground, avoiding reflecting light in excess. Good PP work,

Hello Gilbert, I love the atmosphere in it, the silhouette of the bridge against the warm tones is beautiful, with the palm trees in the distance it could well be Cairo or some other exotic places, well done!

Hi Gilbert,
Simply lovely colour tone. I also like how the distant silhouettes fade away into the BG, but dare sharp at the same time.

Hello Gilbert!

I posted yesterday for the first time in 2-1/2 weeks. It looks like you are very busy too. I hope you are spending the spring break in Hawaii.

This is a beautiful site, and the tone yields a mysterious and intriguing look.

Where does the name Coronado come from. Disney World has a Coronado hotel that I stayed in once, but I hadn't heard of the name before.

I hope you have a great weekend!
