Shadow

Two Oryx-es looking for shade under a Camelthorn tree at the Etosha salt pan. It was a blazing hot morning, but fortunately the heat didn't disrupted the air, so I got a clear view on this scene.

Picture taken with the 70-300 Sigma zoom, using high shutter speed to prevent motion blur.

PP work: not much, shot in jpeg , adjusted levels and curves, cropped, resized sharpened and add frame.

Hi Hans,
A wonderful tree serving as a shelter to the two animals underneath!
A very sharp capture of this splendid landscape!
Very natural colors and a considerable DOF!
Great management in lighting.
A very neat presentation.
My best regards,

Francis Xavier

Bonjour Hans
Belle photo de cette endroit desertic ou l'ombre est rare pour ces animaux.
Félicitation et bravo!!
Florent

Nice simple capture of a view that most of us will never see for real! Composition is strong - there's a real sense of that heat in this shot!

Did you use the dodge tool to lighten the Oryx? It seems they should be more in shadow but maybe it's reflected light from around them....

I love the look of these trees - they always stand out in the African land. And good to see the beasts sheltering from the sun in teh shade too. A very "African" scene
