MV Stella Nova with her cargo on board is preparing her long voyage to Saudi Arabia.

Six locomotives and parts are on board . Time to secure the cargo and close-down the cargo hold.

The ship is equipped with a derrick forward and a crane aft . Each can lift 250 mt and combined 500 mt.
Therefore the G500 Class stands of course for the lifting capacity of the ship.

The cargo hold is a big square box. For more versatility a bunch of pontoons are moveable to create a tweendeck .

For easier access to the hold , the hatch covers are removable too. But where to put these giant pieces without obstructing the dock, or the crane/Derrick movements? Well simply overboard , in the water .... (^_^) Of course they are water tight, and become floating pontoons.

Note the crew member standing on the hatch cover as it is been loaded back on board. To give a sense of scale to the construction.

Here we loaded only in the cargo hold, but the ship is designed to load impressive deckloads .

She is expected in Saudi Arabia around August 15th weather conditions permitting.

Beautiful ship there Robert! Hey, no ice! How cool! I love the tight crop on this, really sharp, nice details also!

Great photo, very sharp. My only gripe is that the top of the mast-stack is chopped off the top of the frame.
Nice colour and contrast too...

Interesting notes thanks. If I didn't fly I may have gone to sea myself...

Also this one is good! No rainbow, no dramatic dark sky, but beautiful boot colours and a great bleu sky!

Hi Robert,
Another beautiful POV with nice controlled lighting and lovely sky,only a slightly improvement in framing if you could cover the upper antenna would have been more balanced in framing,otherwise nice exposure with good details and DOF.

Bonjour Robert,

Qu'est-ce qui se passe? On souffre d'indécision? Personnellement je préfère celle-ci à la suivante. Bien que dans l'autre la profondeur est mieux définit par l'avant plan, le bleu pale semble dérouter mon attention du sujet pricipal qu'est le bateau. De plus dans l'image ci-dessus, nous voyons complètement la barge (je crois que cela en est une) qui sert au déchargement alors que dans l'autre elle est coupée. Le déchargement est quand même un activité importante dans cette image. Bref ton premier choix me semble le meilleur tant qu'à moi. Bravo et compliments pour cette belle image.
