After the rainn

Playing around with DOF and POV, sharpness and so on...

This is an oldie from my digital picture shoe box. Poppies after heavy rain shower.

PP work: adjusted levels and curves, brightness and contrast, sharpened using USM, cropped, resized and sharpened once more using different setting.

Hellow Hans,
The colours in this image are amazing and you have created a strong and natural image, well done!

Hi Hans,
Very colorful image full of Summer mood!
The focus on the flower and bug at the top of right side works nicely.
Our eyes are attracted towards them so naturally.
Love the feeling to have my feet in this wet garden.
Very beautiful. Annie

Honestly speaking, I can't make out where were your (planned) focal point in this summer shot, Hans!

The picture lacks your "trademark the quality" and I am quite surprised to see that. I am sorry for my openness but I think it is better to tell the way you think rather than writing something else. isn't it?

To my concern are several things which decline the quality of the picture, such as, the "out-of-focus" poppy and white daisy flowers which are certainly the 'heroes' and fill the whole frame of your shot. Unfortunately, the insects caught perching on them are not focused too :( I also see lot of noise insertion overall in the picture.

I hope I am not writing so much negative aspects of your shot :P Better let me stop here :) Anyways, you are welcome to (dis)agree.

Hi Hans,
No doubt about the rain, you have caught the droplets well.
I like the natural colours of the flowers, red ones are usually hard to capture with detail & you have done a good job here. The thumbnail image due to its small size, looked perfect, but on viewing full size, I find that the foreground out of focus large daisy, to be a distration, from the rest of this well captured image & it kind of spoils your composition for me,I believe it would have been better for the overall composition, being sharp & in focus, sorry if I disappoint.
Best Regards

Vibrant, colourful and nice. Lovely shot.

This really caught my eye...it's stunning for the clarity and colour and I love the subject matter. There are a couple of blurred foreground flowers, but that doesn't matter to me because of the overall effect. Beautiful!

Beautiful composition the colors are so striking no it may not be the 'sharpest' image but it is beautiful tfs
