There is 7 Stalin skyscrapers in Moscow. This one is the Lomonosov university main building. This huge building was built in 1953 and by german war prisoners. They founded GULAG (work camp) where they forced Nazi people to build! While the construction was ongoing, some inmates were housed on the 24th and 25th levels to reduce transportation costs and the number of guards required.

The main tower, which consumed over 40,000 metric tons of steel, was inaugurated September 1, 1953. Being 240 metres tall, it was the tallest building in Europe from its completion until 1990. It is still the tallest educational building in the world.

I had opportunity to sleep here for 5 nights and it was really great experience! It is hard to describe how huge this place is!

Prtiviet Sasha,

I think it's very nice symmetrical image on a building, rich colors.... I have been in Moscow very long time ago and I always have enjoyed in Russian architecture buildings.

Hi Sasza,
It is a good, well focused picture.
I just wanted to clarify sth from your comment. Actually GULAG was not one work camp(if that is what you mean). It was a chain of camps which have being created since 1919 and from thirthies named as GULAG Glavnoye Upravlyeniye Ispravityel'no-Trudovih Lagyeryey i koloniy - The Chief Administration of Corrective Labor Camps and Colonies. This particular camp was only a part of this cruel system.
Regards
Aneta

Great symmetrical composition with good pov and dof. Somehow the subdued colors seems to reflect the history of the building. Well done, tfs.
