Now something different....

Did an experiment with splashing water. Came to this idea when visiting the Jūrmala beach town near Riga in Latvia. Near one of the beach entrances there were some spouting street fountains where the water gush collapsed together creating awesome "water shapes" The background was a nightmare though, so I tried several POVs and I chose this one out of a total of fifty exposures of the splashes.

Used the highest possible shutter speed (1/6400 sec) with a high f-stop (f/5.3) to blur the background as much as possible, further more I increased the ISO up to 400ASA have enough sensitivity for the light.

PP work, hardly any, adjusted levels and curves, brightness and contrast a bit. Resized but no sharpening.

fresh as a morning dew in a parched desert. i love the sharpness of each droplet as they are suspended in space in time. it almost feels like they are attached to a glass pane.

Lovely shot and thanks for all the details.. Best wishes.

This is a very different image from you Hansie...
50 shots - it's fun trying but you seem to have captured the water well here.
The tree in the BG - it does take the attention from the water - but I think it's better than just the grey sky.

Hoi Hans,
Mooi werk,
Joop!

Splosh! Very effective composition. It almost looks like a crazy animal jumping around! I think that is a very well done picture.

This is a very cool and successful experiment very nicely captured. Each droplet demanding the eyes attention the tree adds a little depth to the pic I think its a good addition TFS

Highest is 1/6400...? You need a Canon, mate :-)

Great idea and well executed, Hans. It's a lovely water pattern and I think the treetop in the background balances the shot very nicely. Successful experiment! Very arty.

Hello Hans,
Nice b&w composition with many details...Good idea and an even beter realisation...
Have a nice week...
