[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I didn’t think I’d come up with anything for the Friday theme, then an opportunity presented itself this morning. I’ve been trying to get the “right” photo of my mom’s old coffee grinder, which has fascinated me since childhood. The black cloth was already draped in the background and underneath it from previous attempts, and when I saw the way the golden morning light was coming through the blinds and hitting it, I knew this was it. I didn’t have enough room to use a tripod, so I had to bump up the ISO to get a decent shutter speed at the small aperture I wanted to use.

Shot in RAW, converted to jpeg, small crop, cloned out a small section of sunlit cloth, curves and unsharp mask.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Hi Werner..nice light patterns ..good choice of composition with nice exposure and tones...

Roger

I like this a lot Werner. It's great how the photo opportunity finally presented itself. The colors on the grinder are so warm with that morning light coming through the blinds. Well observed and well executed.

Hello Werner

It's a good idea and a right pov.
Perfect capture of light and shadows, I like the result.
I think that the frame was not necessary.
I propose another idea and other addiction in ws.
Have a great week end too
Best regards

This one is particularly well lit Werner - great use of sidelight and shadow! The totally black BG with the shadows running across the grinder make for a very interesting photo...

I hear that coffee is an addiction, but I can't even smell the stuff without feeling sick can you believe!!!!

Cheers

Hi Werner,
Great idea successfully implemented. You handled the light on this one like Caravaggio!
