Spring now seems to be on the way and I thought it appropriate to mark the occasion with a shot of flowers in the garden. I'm not sure what the pink flowers are but the yellow colour in the background is Forsythia which is all in flower at the moment. I always see this as a sign of the spring.

Shot in RAW, levels altered slightly in Photoshop, sharpened, resized and border added.

Hi Joy,
What a sharp image! Perfect use of shallow focusing, thus creating this lovely bokeh BG to isolate this natural bouquet from the rest!
Nice lighting and impeccable details on the flowers. Nice contrast and such a neat presentation.
Well done,

Francis Xavier

Hello Joy,

This is a very accomplished shot.
The focus is really sharp on the flowers, whilst the blurred b/g makes an unobtrusive backcloth. The simple border works equally well.
Although three makes a fine composition, I wonder, in this case, whether just the two 'love birds' might have made an even stronger composition. A tough decision!
But, I am happy with this!

My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Joy
a wonderful trio composition of pretty pink flowers.
I like the softness of the colors enhanced by the blurry BG. perfect focus and fine clarity.

Hi Joy,
Superb photo!
All is perfectly done here. Composition with elegant lines and triangular position of flowers, subtle bokeh in background, rich colors, textured petales visible despite the softness of the whole image. Really a very good work! Bravo! Annie

Hi Joy,

Excellent composition of the beautifull flowers, I like the pastel colors.
Very good POV and sharp détails, BG and light are perfect.
Very good job, TFS.
Best regards.

Hello Joy,

very beautiful capture - lovely colours, light and sharpness. Spot on DOF. Nicely presented with the vertical composition - could be the cover of a greeting card! The only thing I could nitpick about to make it completely 'perfect' is to clone stamp out the very small black speck on the lower petal of the top flower.

- Jan

Hello Joy,

This is an excellent shot. And that it has passed the scrutiny of Bev (Royaldevon) with flying colours says a lot for it! She is the expert when it comes to this sort of picture (and others besides).

Seriously, this is very good - perfect exposure, beautiful colours, a very nicely out-of-focus background and incredible sharpness in the flowers and stems. For me, the composition is spot-on too.

Kind Regards,

Wow Joy. This is gorgeous. The beautiful blurred forsythia bg accenting these fantastic sharp pink marvels is just incredible. They look like roses of some kind. Whatever they are...you created a feast for the eyes. Really wonderful. TFS, Lori

OMG we are now there yet ,spring is on the way that's a fact, yet too much snow on the ground and hardly melting for now but for you it's great to see such eye caching fully grown flowers blooming right now , nice and crisply rendered , you were obviously after bokeh here with f/5, the dominant yellow of the other variety brings pleasing tones and a fantastic ambience to the scene , well saturated colors too , really love your work , you won't want to change a thing in this compo Joy , my compliments ,

Hello Joy, this is indeed an accomplished picture; the blurred bg is perfect at concentrating our eyes on these very pretty flowers.
[I am not quite sure what they are, could they be Ranunculus?]
I read Bev's remark about using just two of the blooms, it is certainly food for thought...
The framing complements your shot beautifully.
Tfs, regards Jean.

Beautifully framed still life Joy.

Exposure and composition are both excellent.

The shallow depth of field works really well throwing the background out of focus.

Realy sharp image with comlimentary frame.

Hello Joy,

What a wonderful image.
Superb bokeh in BG that gives some light to those haughty bearing flowers and elegant.
The composition is clear and neat.
Compliments TFS
