Mother care

Took this shot in Monkey Forest on the island of Bali. The mother and child were hiding in a quite dark area, so I was forced to use the camera mounted flash, but I'm not unhappy with the result.

Anyway, took a moment to post on TL again.

Well, in this case Hans, the flash worked out perfectly ... no ugly signs of having used it. Did you darken the background, or is that just how it came out? It's great either way .. the monkeys stand out so well. Great sharp detail and nice little twinkle in their eyes. Well done

Hi Hans,
A nice double portrait of these monkeys...mother and child!
A very sharp image with accurate details in the face features of both.
Very subtle lighting and natural colors.
Well done for this neat work.
My best regards,

Francis Xavier

Hi Hans,
Great to see you posting again,Looks like your using that D300 to the best of its abilities, the sharpness & clarity of this mother & child's details, is really evident.
I did notice however, a softness to the arm & leg of the mother at the viewers right side, was this movement, or could it have been avoided? or am I way out of line in asking this?as I know I could not capture this scene as well as you have, but wanted to know if the question is valid or not.
Best Regards

So very glad to see you back here -- I hope that you can find the care for yourself that I see portrayed here!

Superb details, and the tight composition works very well
I even like the fact that there is so little room in front of the mother's face: It speak of the uncertain future - a very powerful presentation

Hello HAns

I think the animals fur keeps it from going flat. Still a very sharp image. Nice

Hi Hans,
This is such a nice capture. The timid expression you captured on the little ones face is wonderful. The flash did an excellent job of providing enough light to bring out the exceptional detail in the monkeys. You couldn't have asked for a better pose from your subjects. Great shot Hans. - Kevin

Olá Hans, bom dia,
Double joy here. First to see you again and second by to appreciate this beautiful and well composed photo.
I greatly appreciated

Bonjour Hans

Hi Hans

Impeccable sharpness & focus with a good oof bg that is neutral & not detracting or clashing with the fg simian subject. Good color balance & framing too. Tfs!

Nature is an amazing thing even in the animal kingdom love is universal. Great capture of this mother and child. Good light management and sharp details. Very well done, tfs.
