Just a short walk from The Downhill Castle ( seen here at: treklens.com/viewphotos.php?l=5&p=566059 ) near the town of Castlerock in Northern Ireland sits a cute little building whose location right on a cliff edge rewards visitors on a clear day with ultra fine views out to the Atlantic ocean and of the 10 km long Benone/Magillian beach below , the beach where the wealthy bishop of Derry ,the owner of the Downhill Castle set his own clergy to race on horseback rewarding the winners by appointing them to the more lucrative parishes.
As the locals say around here : if you ae not satisfied with the weather now just wait 15 minutes... well..it might get either a lot worse or a lot better , sir ,oh well.. it made so much sense as a few minutes into my walk from the castle the skies split open over my head , gray changed to blue and there i was shooting that curious little building that btw , almost forgot to say about , either housed his library or mistress - opinions differ ! He conducted an affair with the mistress of Frederick William II of Prussia well into old age !
Scanned a good print , played with highlights and contrast , sharpeneing and frame,
Enjoy the view and thank you for reviewing this photo ,

An interesting building set in a seaside vista that makes for a very intriguing composition. Colors and you POV are very strong.
Nicely Done

Hi Carol,

Beautiful shot with super colours and detail. The sky has so much interest. There are many of these little buildings, called follies around the UK, all high up on the cliffs with fine views over the sea. They are believed to be the pleasure houses of wealthy landowners, as you say in your interesting note.

Hi Carol,
What a splendid sharp capture of this beach with this dome building just at the edge of the cliff. I like the slight distortion created by this wide angle lens. Great light management.
This high POV and the considerable DOF render this shot attractive.
Well done for this neat work.
My best regards,

Francis Xavier

Beautiful beach scene! It look so pristine and untouch. Great pov and good dof with sharp details. Wonderful colors. Well done, tfs.

I have been away for quite awhile now and must say I have missed these type of photos, where I can view and 'escape' for a few minutes. Such a lovely place!!! Very nice pov and nice detail. TFS

Delicious note Carol
I hope everything is all right, now.
A very interesting perspective and the composition is a visual poem. Since the texture of the sea until the the texture of "bricks". The DOf is superb...it is like a loong hello to the imensity of nature beauty of composition.
You are a poet with camera.
um abraço

Hi Carol....excellent shot...great light and tones...well composed.

Hi Carol,

Beautiful shot and great notes. Thanks for sharing both.

Carol Lynn

I love the mood in this picture, dear Carol!

Great view and perfect show of architecture and that too at such a relaxing and beautiful coastline environment.
The picture is razor-sharp and clarity is nice.
A peculiar cloud formation adds great mood into the picture and subsequently provides nice contrast to green field on the left.

Well spotted and nicely caught!

Best regards,

nice shot
good composition
well sharp
well done

Hi Carol, just discovered this one in the gallery. Great shot. Such a great contrast from the right side to the left side. The right side almost looks like a painting... the colors of the shore and the water and the sky. That would have made a good photo on its own... the white, grey and blue. But the little odd building and green is a great contrast. All nice and sharp and crisp. Well done.
I hope you had good news from the tech expert!! :)
have a great week

Hello Carol
Wonderful site and amazing wide angle composition captured with very good details and much controlled over the sea reflection while the horizon meeting together with clouds is so artistic..
My Best Wishes
