[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This shot was taken on the Southern rim of the Grand Canyon, Arizona.

I included the tree in the foreground for a number of reasons, I think it frames the picture nicely, the texture, being an old tree also adds character to the shot.

Many beautiful photos are taken of the Grand Canyon so I tried something different by not only including the Canyon in this shot.

Hi Taryn.

A very creative position adopted for this scene, i like the fact that you chose your view through this small gap, between an old gnarled tree and shrubbery. The pale tones coupled with a BG of the Grand Canyon is a majstic sight to behold. The wispy clouded sky simply adds to the overall attraction. Neat work. TFS

Stv :0))

This is such a lovely scene which you have caught so beautifully, Taryn!

Great details and well captured contrasts within the picture.
A nice play between light and shadow does make this work so dramatic in appeal.
I like the shadow of clouds seen on the landscape and the positioning of the tree balances the composition nicely.
Well seen!

Hi Taryn, I like the pov looking out through the old tree.Looks like its about to fall down into the canyon at any moment. This would look nice as a b&w too i think. Fiona

Hi Taryn!
Very pleasant and sharp composition. Good your idea about the tree. Nice view and lighting too. The vegetation in foreground add depht to the image.
ciao! Vanda

Ciao Taryn, great view of lovely place, beautiful composition with tree in FG, splendid light and wonderful natural colors, very well done, my friend, ciao Silvio

Hello Taryn,a good view through the vegetation towards the Canyon. The plants give a good indication of the type of climate here.
The passing clouds have cast shadows on the rocks which adds further interest. You achieved a good depth of field.
Tfs, regards Jean.

Hi Taryn

I might upload a workshop later to show the improvement possible with a little more density, saturation & contrast. The composition & view are superb! I like the shadow play in the canyon from the clouds. Tfs!

Hi Taryn,
An agreeable POV and an original one to capture the Grand Canyon. I like the sharp FG with this display with trees! The blurred image of the Canyon is outstanding and still it's the focal point of the presentation.
Very natural color and such a neat picture.
Well done,

Francis Xavier

Welcome to TL!

I think I have the same image of this tree and the Grand Canyon! Awesome capture of this world famous natural wonder. Good lighting and good dof with sharp details. Wonderful colors. Well done, tfs.

Hi Taryn,
a nice shot that can be improved by slight adjustments to brightness and saturation. As it is, the colours look kind of washed out. The appears to be slight tilt also. If you look at the northern rim of the canyon, you would notice it. Still I consider this a good photo, you thought about the composition to include the tree.

Hi Taryn....excellent shot...great composition with excellent focus and exposure..you did a really nice job on this.

Your choice of FG elements set against the BG of the Grand Canyon is well spotted. The DOF and POV both works well to create a very good overall composition..
