[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I received my long awaited Lee Big Stopper just in time for my short one week vacation in Ireland. I've been using my 10 stop B&W ND filter for a few years now but did not like the magenta cast (although acceptable) and the fact that it is a screw on filter, which makes it difficult to combine with grad ND filter. The Big Stopper was the way to go. So after 4 months waiting it finally came in. And as I mentioned, just in time for use during a vacation.

This is a 90 second exposure using the 10 stop Lee filter and a 0.6 ND grad filter to balance the exposure. The result is almost straight from the camera. Just a few adjustments on levels, curves and sharpness. No color cast.

As always, tripod, hotshoe spirit level, cable release, my eyes and hands.

Hi Niek,
I like the zoom effect in this landscape shot. It's magical and pleasant to look at!
Beautiful blues and a lovely soft ambient.
Good light management.

Bonjour Niek,

This is it. the Lee system is the answer to a good and relaxing/ed long exposure shot. I do not use it yet but a friend does. I still work with some screw type ND and I am thinking to upgrade to the Lee system soon. Worth waiting 4 month...

The shot is well balanced, and the exposure time seems fine to my eyes (good exposition). The slight vignetting on the upper-left corner disturbs the eye a bit to much, I guess, but I would say that it is due to the grad ND + wide angle.
On the other hand, the "contrast" between the foreground clouds moving and those in the background "staying still" adds it all to the shot.
Hope to see more of these from you.

Love the motion blur with amazing focus and clarity, Niek!
The light is fantastic and colors contrasts are well kept against a blue sky.
The mirror-reflections on the surface of nearly calm waters is well seen.
Great job!

Kind regards,

Hi Neik,
A very interesting result with your Lee filters. I think the image is still slightly tilted.

Hi Niek, The long exposure defiantly gives nice soft water feel. If I was presenting this I will take another fast shot and mask in the green in the middle of the FG. TFS

Hi Niek,
Great result with the Lee filter, I really like the effect on the clouds

Just seen this! Nice! The Lee filter does a good job - helped by the classic fluffly clouds which are the besy blurring subject. The overall colour is good and as you say; no sign of a cast!

Amazing, this is exactly what I envision when I dream of a trip I plan to make to Ireland ONE DAY! :)

Truly magnificent, no critique just awe. TFS.
