[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Pied Kingfisher was initially believed to be descended from an ancestral American green kingfisherwhich crossed the atlantic about a million years ago. Common throughout sub Saharan Africa and South Asia, from Turkey to China.
It is resident and most do not migrate. It is a very noisy birdand a specialist fish catcher. It hunts by hovering over the water and dives directly down to snatch fish. They can also be tamed.

Hi Erwin,
A lovely portrait of this kingfisher. Perfect details in the plumage and the face features. Good light and an interesting low POV.
Well done,

Hi Erwin.

Now thats an impressive bill.
For us in the UK, it good to see a different flavou of Kingfisher.
I like the pose and the positioning within the frame, neutral sky tones works well also.

stv ;o))

Hello Erwin, a good PoV looking up to this beautiful kingfisher; what lovely markings it has!
The beak is very impressive,I pity the poor fish, no wonder that it has such a name.
I like that there is a very neutral bg, so no distractions.
And you have caught the all important catchlight in its eye.
Tfs, regards Jean.

Hi Erwin,
A great capture. Amazing details. I have seen many Kingfishers that are blue, I have never seen one that is black & white.
