Dear All,

This is my contribution to Friday's theme: "Lost". Thanks a lot Fiona for proposing this theme with such great diversity of possibilities one can go for!

I took this shot inside the famous cathedral of Mainz. I was concerned with the way the dear- or near-ones of the "lost" souls were lightened candles in their tribute. I don't know whether I could capture the exposure nicely but main aspect of taking this picture was to capture the feelings and emotion I saw at that moment. The atmosphere was peaceful and it was pin-drop silence in the cathedral.

It was dark inside and lot of candled were burning in one corner of this huge cathedral.

Hope you like the shot.

Kind regards,

Paras

Hi Paras,

It is a good idea to use the aspect of the lost of a love one. The length of the alley is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is shgowing the action of the persons parying inside the church. Have a nice day.

Hi Paras,
A nice capture in low light, the DX or FX is so confusing that one have to calculate these so here the focal length as the camera is DX that makes 18x1.5=27mm that 18mm is much wide. You moved from f/3.5 to 4.5 one step ahead but the shutter speed much helped and luckily you subject was not moving, well shot and TFS.
Regards,
Musa.

Hi Paras.

Yes, time to reflect and remember those lost, a perfect addition to the friday theme.

I like the way you chose the area of candle as an extra source of light, the height of the cathedral and structures are clearly visible.
Have a good weekend

stv ;o))

I like your contribution to this weeks theme Paras, it carries a strong message. Your image shows the impressive height and space of this vast cathedral well and the lighting is well managed here. I presume you were hand holding your camera (as often tripods are not allowed) but the detail is sharp, except for the flames of the candles but I think the movement there is effective. I love how the light from these candles illuminates the carving above.

Hi Paras
Excellent idea to the theme.
The light and the atmosphere are perfectly balanced, and the composition excellent with the ancient columns of stone adding an idea of strength and eternity.

Paras,

A very peaceful image of the Mainz Cathedral interior. The amber of the candle light beautifully contrasts with the blue/grey of the rest of the interior. Excellent sharpness and detail in the low light image, a very very done composition worthy of the Friday theme.
