[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Black-backed jackals are cunning and feisty despite their
apparent "cute dogginess." They are omnivorous but have been known to kill small antelope and, on one occasion, to attack a sick bull rhino! They have a bad reputation because they can transmit rabies, canine parovirus and a host of other nasty things including, in the case of Etosha National Park, anthrax! So, it's best to give them as much room as possible and then be on your way.
