Here is what I did in Photoshop CS2:
- Cropped out your frame
- Adjusted curves in a new adjustment layer, applied blending changes, luminosity to preserve the colours.
- Flatten the image
- Shadows 0%, Highlights 30%
- Reframed by enlarging canvas by 8px in black...I am a bit minimalist when it comes to framing...just my own personal preference.

Here is what I did in PhotoShop CS2:
- Adjusted levels & curves slightly to give the image a bit more depth
- Converted to b&w using this recipe:
Channel Mixer:
Set to Monochrome
Red: 30%
Green: 59%
Blue: 11%
- Adjusted curves again to give more contrast

I hope you won't mind and let me know what you think.

I think you could have done a far better job than me with a convertion to B&W but here is my attempt.

In PhotoShop CS2, I did the following:
- Converted to B&W:
Channel Mixer:
Set to Monochrome
Red: 30%
Green: 59%
Blue: 11%
- Adjusted curves in a new adjustment layer, applied blending changes, luminosity
- Adjusted levels in a new adjustment layer, applied blending changes, luminosity
- Cropped to decentre
- Applied smart sharpen, 50%, 0.2px, remove lens blur

Let me know what you think...it is not necessarily better but it is another vision on your picture.

Here is what I did in PhotoShop CS2 but I think these steps can probably be replicated in other post-treatment software:
- Cropped the top as the sky is not very interesting
- Converted to B&W using this technique:
1) Image->Mode->LAB Color
2) Go to the lightness channel and then to Image->Mode->Grayscale
It will ask if you if you want to delete all other channels. Say "yes"
3) Convert back to RGB mode. Image->Mode->RGB Color
4) Copy the layer (control-j)
5) make blending mode "Soft Light" and reduce opacity to about 30-40%
- Adjusted shadows to 5%, Highlights to 30%
- Adjusted curves in a new adjustment layer to increase contrast, applied mode - Luminosity
- Selected the white sky, and did another adjustement of curves to increase again the contrast.
- Enlarge canvas by 10px to frame it.

Let me know what you think and I hope you won't this other vision on your picture.
