|Intro:||Thought I'd update this now that I've been here a while. |
I'm a working sociologist here in Wales having come to education later in life. I currently help to run a centre for the 'disadvantaged' and 'disconnected' (whatever that means)in the south Wales valleys. We use informal learning projects to engage with people.
Many of the projects use photography as a tool or mechanism for helping people explore their lives or life 'issues'. I have to admit that before I started this new post (2 years ago) I wasn't much interested in photography much to the angst of my boyfriend, but, I have now seen and experienced the impact it can have on peoples lives.
About a year ago I thought I should add some theory to my work and so I started a basic photography course and have since completed some others - although I have to say I'm not one for rules...I feel i have so much to learn and have found TL to be of great help and inspiration....and fun!
I like to travel and sometimes get to travel with work, which is great! I love reading and often have a pile of books by the side of the bed. I love learning which is why I'm here, and am always taking courses of one kind or another (currently TESOL). I hate right wing extremists of all kinds and intolerance.
