I wanted to see if a greyscale were any better than a coloured image.
1. selected the RED channel as basis of grey conversion, as it shows the skin tones best.
2. adjusted levels to improve midtones slightly
3. whitened the eyes.
4. cropped the border slightly.
Result: better in some ways. I think more post-processing to render it as an old photograph may be another avenue to try when I have more time to play.
