Diana,

There are so many models that I could not really recommend anything. Personally, I prefer an SLR, so my choice is limited. The 2 entry levels SLR, the Rebel XT and the 20D are excellent cameras. But, what I have discovered is that the body comes second after the lens. If you like to spend money, the L series from Canon is a great investment. The sharpness and colour rendition are phenomenal, and there is hardly any distortion.
If you'd like to stay with a non interchangeable lens camera, the Canon S1 series is a good choice since it gives you all the manual adjustments you need.
But again, there are so many models to choose from, your head will start spinning fast!
Have a great w-e!
